Moreover, the only issue in the Brexit argument is immigration. There is no other justification for Brexit.
No, there is one very big reason for it - Freedom.
Like the prodigal son left his family for FREEDOM!
Then he returned in disgrace and broke.
None of us have freedom. It's freedom within boundaries. You can't describe a nation as being free. That's not a status that can be conferred on a nation. In addition, in this globally connected world, all nations are inter-dependent on many other nations. If we were not in EU, we'd still be in NATO, UN, etc, and still bound by international laws and treaties.
Sadly, Brexit would exacerbate the immigration issue, not resolve it.
How?
Simple. Immigration is now running at about 50/50. That's about 50% EU immigration and 50% non-EU immigration.
The Border Agency doesn't need to worry about the EU citizens. They're free to come and go as they please. Although both EU and non-EU are counted in and out, and their passports checked, etc.
So the Border Agency has only to worry about 50% of the immigrants, the non-EU immigrants. Are they legally allowed to be here, have they overstayed their visa, are they here for a legitimate reason, etc? If they are legally allowed to be here, then all the checks, etc have to be processed. If they're not legally allowed, they have to be processed. Those overstaying have to be found and deported, etc.
How does the Border Agency score on this, so far? Pretty damn dismally, I'd say.
Now if we leave the EU, and the right of EU citizens to travel and work freely in UK is rescinded, the workload of the Border Agency is going to double, at least, maybe more. How will they score then? Even more dismally, obviously. In addition they're going to need a massive recruitment drive, training, and budget, etc.
And we haven't given a thought to all those UK citizens who may be forced to return, requiring accommodation, medical care, etc.
Don't forget, most will have sold their homes to live in EU. But when they're forced to sell up abroad, their cash in hand will be insufficient to buy anywhere in UK, well anywhere reasonable.
