I haven't got life insurance as I've been of the thought that no one would touch me.

Im looking for a reputable well known company to take out life insurance.
A Trademan insurance may be the way to go so as there are no excuses that my trade has an unhealthy effect on my body, as we know most do have negatives to our health.

A few things I need considering is:
●My trade (plumber)
●My Age 58

●Im in remission with Cancer
○ since teatment, there is now a cure.
●Ive had other health issues
○But I'm generally healthy

Im willing to take a medical, but need to make even more adjustments to a healthier life style before I do that, so plan on going for this in September.

Most of the life insurance companies advertising on TV say they don't require a medical and your previous history does not matter. It is just a matter of how much you want to insure yourself for and your age.

I would imagine most people of my age would have insurance! Wouldn't they.

I think I'd prefer a medical and let them have access to my health history, as then they have little wiggle room to get out of paying out in an event of death or accident.

How much cover do you want and how much can you afford to pay each month? We took out a joint 'first to death' (fixed term) policy about 30 odd years ago. It is fixed at £43 per month and gives £150k of cover. It expires when we both reach retirement age. I’m already there but Mrs Mottie still has a few years to go.

At your age even disregarding your general health history, unless you are paying an astronomical monthly account, I think you'd only be able to get something to cover funeral expenses and a píss up afterwards.

A quick quote for someone your age with just one provider gives these figures:

Are you thinking life insurance or critical illness insurance?

And sorry to say this but at your age what does it need to cover?

Is it common someone of my age not having insurance?

The question is, what do you want it for? We had no mortgage to cover but it was mainly taken out in the event of one of us dying as the other one may have had to give up work to care for children until they were old enough to look after themselves.

Mortgage is paid. More of the thinking it's the sensible thing to do.
