I remember discussing tariffs and protectionism for the first time with my uncle, when I was about ten years old. My view then was essentially the same as Trump's view now.

I can see it sounds a bit weird! I was interested in current affairs and politics from an early age. My uncle's family lived just up the road so I saw them all the time and he was always happy to humour me. About the same time I got caned by my class teacher for teasing him for being a big trade unionist.
