When all argument`s have failed along come the gramma police . Who struggle with job titles
Good point, Denso will be along later to put us in the picture that scientists have deduced the sun has minimal impact if any.

Fossils
Ice cores
etc
oldest ice cores less than 3 million years old. Most only a few hundred thousand. Dating accuracy of about 100 000 years. Data and models from a period less than 0.001% of earth's age. Mate I believe in climate change. I believe we probably add to it. I'm just not comfortable with the way some nutters treat it as a religion and cry to mum if anyone asks questions.

In that case is he right to be gloomy about our chances to reduce emissions at all? While China and India cough up huge amounts of carbon and the seas continue to warm, shedding more ice into the oceans, then our puny efforts will only make a small dent in the sheer scale of what we hope to achieve. It's worth doing for the sake of clean air and clean water in the UK but in the long run how much of an affect will it have on global emissions as a whole? And if our government does much less in its avowed agenda to tackle GW on the grounds of cost then we may not even achieve a tiny percentage of what should be done.
Hello Odds,
I think it's unfair that many point to India and China, as the worst polluters, as though it's a given fact.
They conveniently ignore the other factors in the equation.
Granted, I'm quoting some figures that are several years old, but USA is always coveniently ignored as one of the worlds worst polluters.
In simple terms, yes China is the highest, followed by USA, then India.

From this website: https://healthyhumanlife.com/blogs/news/top-polluting-countries
"The list of countries that produce the greatest are unsurprisingly known for coal and oil production and exportation.
  1. China: 10.3m kt
  2. United States: 5.3m kt
  3. India: 2.2m kt
  4. Russia: 1.7m kt
  5. Japan: 1.2m kt
  6. Germany: 0.7m kt
  7. Iran: 0.65m kt
  8. Saudi Arabia: 0.6m kt
  9. South Korea: 0.59m kt
  10. Canada: 0.54m kt"
The other influences are, IMO, especially the per capita figures:
"When you adjust the list to evaluate the emissions on a per capita basis, the United State and Canada climb to the top of the chart.
  1. United States: 14.95t
  2. Canada: 14.91t
  3. South Korea: 11.5t
  4. Russia: 9.97t
  5. Japan: 9.04t
  6. Germany: 8.88t
  7. China: 6.57t
  8. U.K.: 5.65t
  9. Italy: 5.37t
  10. France: 4.38t"
Another issue is the racial disparity:

".....the people breathing the harmful air are predominantly black and hispanic communities, while the people causing more air pollution are, in fact, white. "

So for people to quote India ad China as the worst offenders is to perpetuater urban mythology.

Finallly, to suggest that UK's contribution is minimal in the grand scheme is a little deflecting, it isn't just UK's contribution, look at it from a continental perspective, i.e Europe.

Roy.
and sorry about all the edits, the usual controls such as TAB and RETURN give unpredictable results meaning my post was posted before I was ready.

Who told you that? Don't believe the MSM.

And still people think that minor changes on that big massive yellow thing doesnt affect this tiny little planet as we spin at 1000mph while travelling through our solar system at 67000mph while our galaxy is travelling through space at 1.3 million mph
What was the message you intended to convey, relating to causes of climate change that are under human control?

Gasser isn't moving at all, so everyone else has to.
No, wait, ...

Oh well, at least in an ever expanding universe, the tosspots are getting further away.
