Ukraine counter offensive

Why do you think that? The east of Ukraine is a flat plain, now the freeze is setting in its well suited to mechanised warfare. With no terrain boundaries they've got lots of potential to advance and cut off the land supply route, and water supply to Crimea.

Because Russia is on there border and will continue to shell the Ukraine un opposed

They are digging in for the winter
And restocking on missiles ect

The US are supplying Ukraine with sophisticated weaponary

Under the under standing that they are not used to attack Russia

Russian artillery is shorter ranged than Ukrainian artillery.

Russia is not building up a massive stock of weapons, they're needed and deployed immediately. Digging in is good, it's very important, but this isn't WW1, strong points will be bypassed and supply lines cut.

Ukraine doesn't need or want to invade Russia, they will try to retake Crimea.

No one is sure who. It's an odd thing for Russia to hit.
Not really, they damaged the road section which prevents the Ukrainians pursuing. They didn't damage the dam itself much which avoids flooding out the new Russian defensive positions on the left bank. It wasn't odd, it was utterly predictable and predicted.

It was Russia. Just like the other dozen bridges they blew up as they retreated.

Ok total victory for the Ukraine than

We will agree to disagree

There's no way to know yet.

Russia might still win, or they might lose the Donbas region but retain Crimea or they might lose it all and return to pre 2014 borders.

There are no laws of physics that say Ukraine can't win. Everything else is up for grabs.

if russia does it's usual it will soften the Kherson up a bit to get civilians to move out. That would depend on what Ukraine stick in it.

These things don't seem to have seen much use. Probably in the SE where Ukraine were dug in and they seemed to get past them rather quickly

Russia retaking Kherson wouldn't make much sense. The wide body of water they are behind is too useful. Russian troops crossed it on a pontoon bridge under the one that Russia took a section out of. The main bridge still looked to be functional to some degree from what was shown. Heavier stuff probably went across that way, Some wonder if a deal was made on the withdrawal. Some sort of cease fire.

Some have posted WW stuff again. Currently it seems the ground is rather wet but tracked stuff and other is still getting around. When it all started up ground was frozen. The important things are rail and roads as that is the quickest way of getting supplies in. France preserved one place that represents one aspect of WW fighting. The Germans demolished it and killed all of the civilians. A smaller place and that way they can advance without any hindrance. They also threw in enormous numbers of troops. Far more than are available now. Zelensky said he wanted 1 million though. Pass if he has them. It can be a good way of loosing lots. All of the battles finish up with street fighting but not Kherson by the sound of it. One area of a retaken larger place was severely flattened. I wonder which side did that? Probably a bit of both or was it?

;) The mention of concrete reminded me of program on the History channel. The French designed defences to hold the Italians off. It worked. The basic idea was relatively novice troops given an easy job to do from well defended positions. Lots of concrete. It fell when the Germans attacked from the rear. It wouldn't be possible to get supplies in.

Wouldn’t the AC130 be more appropriate? A10 is a tank buster.
I just assumed it was a close support aircraft. ;) If the USA has one the Russians will too.

It seems Russia shot down some Ukrainian SU-25 with missiles shot from Russia rather early on - 2014 ish. The SU-25 is equiped with an autocanon and the kit needed to use is so sounds like an A-10 has similar but there are bound to be variants or other models that can drop stuff.
