Nasser was ramping up the rhetoric and mobilizing troops but technically, yes, it was one of the few wars actually started by Israel.
They like having them for uprisings as well. What a super stable area it all is.

Interesting interview of an Israeli. Palestinians - there is no such race. Seems he was some type of authority. IDF kills a Palestinian when no need. The crowd cheers. This sort of thing and a number of interviews and news items paint a nice picture don't they. Lots from western reporters as well.

Blinken appears to be mentioning a 2 state solution as are a number of western politicians.

Not the first time this has happened so is this just to try and placate an increasingly large proportion of there populations that are not happy about the destruction and deaths?

It's a pity that a rather long Alj blow by blow account of what went on in Syria isn't available, It was just broadcast. It started with interference for the west - you can guess who. Things turned out to be more complicated than they appeared to be as the backed forces had 2 enemies, Assad's and an ISIS lot. This touches on why Assad survived.

It's interesting that Russia has both sea and air bases there.

Snow on C4 interviewed some one who had visited Syria before stuff got going. He reported that in one area Assad was very popular. In others he was hated.

Israel has proposed a plan for the western nations to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza.

So Israel can have a fun old time destroying it again, and killing a few more thousands of Palestiniains in the process.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has outlined proposals for the future governance of Gaza once the war between Israel and Hamas is over.
There would, he said, be limited Palestinian rule in the territory.
Hamas would no longer control Gaza and Israel would retain overall security control, he added.
Under Mr Gallant's now "four corner" plan, Israel would retain overall security control of Gaza.
A multi-national force would take charge of rebuilding the territory after the widespread destruction caused by Israeli bombing.

Neighbouring Egypt would also have an unspecified role to play under the plan.
But the document adds that Palestinians would be responsible for running the territory.
"Gaza residents are Palestinian, therefore Palestinian bodies will be in charge, with the condition that there will be no hostile actions or threats against the State of Israel," Mr Gallant said.

Talk of the "day after" in Gaza has led to deep disagreement in Israel.

Some far right-wing members of Mr Netanyahu's government have said that Palestinian citizens should be encouraged to leave Gaza for exile, with the reestablishment of Jewish settlements in the territory - controversial proposals that have been rejected as "extremist" and "unworkable" by other countries in the region and by some of Israel's allies.

While Mr Gallant's proposals may be regarded as more practical than those suggested by some of his cabinet colleagues, they are likely to be rejected by Palestinian leaders who say that Gazans themselves must be allowed to take full control of running the territory once this devastating war is over.

Netanyahoo says the war will last for up to a year - in order to kill as many Palestinians as possible and keep himself out of court. The twisted tosser's worse than Trump. Lock him up!

Nothing new in that.
The West pay for the bombs used to destroy Gaza.
The West pay for the rebuilding of Gaza.
The West pay for the bombs to destroy Gaza, ect.ect.
It just goes round in circles.

Not much difference in what the Israelis are doing in Gaza and what Assad did in Syria.
To be fair to the Israelis, their response to the Palestinian uprising is straight from the military textbook of asymmetric warfare.

Unlike conventional warfare were 2 armies meet up and fight it out on battlefield, these militia type wars are fought among the civilian population, the weaker side embed themselves in civilian areas.
The stronger side, then has to winkle out the insurgents, this is done by bombing the **** out of the insurgent held areas, forcing the civilians to flee, sending in foot soldiers alone without air support would be too costly.

The problem in Gaza, is that the civilians have nowhere to go.

Is the Pakistani aware that his own country are currently expelling 1.7 million undocumented people, mainly Afghans, many who've been there since the 70's or were born there.

I thought about tht while watching the video - after ISIS paid them a visit the Pakistan govt. decided to take it out on all the poor sods who fled the Taliban, sending them back to face their fate. Between a rock and a hard place, they are....mind you, they're not bombing the crap out of 'em, so there's that.

That's only half of the story, there were 4 million Afghani refugees in Pakistan, so less than half are being repatriated.
In addition, it's partly the fault of western governments dragging their feet over processing visas for resettlement.
Many Afghans have applied for resettlement in countries that were members of the NATO-led force that maintained security in Afghanistan, such as the US, Canada, Australia and countries in the European Union. But as the world has turned its eye to other conflicts, those countries have fallen drastically short of their promises to Afghan refugees.

A trickle of visas approved for Afghans

Human Rights Watch has also highlighted the unreasonably slow processing times for Afghan refugees in resettlement countries, such as the US, UK, Germany, Australia and other EU countries. This is particularly true for women and girls,
