I use a company called HECAS, the parts are same day or next, would you have a Baxi/Potterton. Be honest Namsag what boiler do you have now ;)

;)

I have a performa 28 because it was cheaper than a 105e had one fault in 5 years it has been in, water delivery out strips any valliant or worcesterof same size .. Have fitted them for 5 and a half years and had less than half dozen go under warranty, I WORKED WITH WORCESTER WITH BG and the failure rate is horrendous does viesman price g`tee reliabilty do anybody know how they work . NO

I don’t know if viesmans are good or not, but I have noticed very few people with problems with them on the forum come to think of it. personally, I will stick with wb until I find a better one

Like Ben Ill stick with WB namsag, each to his own I surpose.

In the trade surely you could of got a 105 cheap

;)

Could be because nobody fits them.. I know at least 20 guys out there working and nobody does

Oh yeah I do, He fitted two, same bloke went solo same time as me now he fits meters for a large company

;)

None of the Potterton/Baxi combis I've fitted have gone wrong, apart from one diaphragm.
All the Vaillants (mostly turbomaxes & +'s)have, and about a third of the WB's.
My impression is that with the "Platinum" era they've got a pretty stable product.
Viessman I'd be anxious about recommending, just because of numbers and familiarity. I only hear about the ones which go wrong, as I haven't fitted any.

Interesting to say the least. Which models are you talking about and how long have they been in?
I have had one call back on a greenstar 35 he plus, actuator had gone. Did you find a common problem with the wb’s or various?

Mostly turbomax &+ were diverters of course, them and later with some gv's, pcb's and odds and ends. And h/ex Seals of course..

WB's mostly dud pcb's going intermittent. Flow switches too, and again some random ones.

Went through an Ideal Mini = Biasi Riva phase, nothing back on any of them!

Halsteads pretty poor too.
Oh and Ideal Responses, every one of the few, a disaster.

CLF . big diff in price between performa and 105 considering it is exactly the same boiler inside only the control panel looks different. At present PC are prob cheapest for 105`s at £615 for boiler, clock and flue as a pack where as i can get a performa 30he for £448 , 20 quid for clock and 35 for flue so 110 quid cheaper before vat.

I also fit valliants and worcesters but honestly don`t think the build quality is any better and when they break down they are far more expensive to repair. How many people do you see on here saying how good the after service is with these 2 companies.I have said it before and will say it again WHY would you know how good it was unless they breakdown regularly..How many times have valliant redesigned divertors etc on the turbomax it was 3 times.

Like chris i have also done a handle full of ideal mini`s and had none come back not my choice of boiler being a biasia but been surprised with them

But the higher power is for more hw performance, not bedrooms - you know that D_H!

So I do, which is why I asked:

How many bathrooms and showers do you have in your one bed flat?

I doubt if a one bed flat has more than one bath and/or shower. So, if a 30kW combi is good enough for a house with two bathrooms and showers, a 24kW should be OK where there is only one.

The OP does not give any clue how many live in the flat, but it can't be that many; so the probability of two taking a bath/shower at the same time is very low.

There are two of us, the plumber was talking about putting in a 24kw jobbie until I told him I wanted to throw out the electric shower and put in a (hopefully) powerful mixer shower. I believe the difference in price is only a couple of hundred quid and I'd rather have over capacity than under.

Thanks for the views on the boilers, I think I will probably go for the viessman - cheaper and having checked his quote again it says it comes with 3 year warranty. By which time I hope to be moving out of here. Given its cheaper and doesn't seem to be a heap of c**P I think I should be safe enough with this choice. That is of course if I decide to go with this plumber.

Cheers

Just out of curiosity, why are you looking at a boiler hardly anyone uses?
