Well done France

Correct. Poisoned by it.

No not really more encouraged in that direction. As mentioned Brexit started in 1999 when Farage was elected to the EU and gained access to the media. From that point on he plugged anything he could think of into it including racism - always backing off from that but always making comments in that direction.

He'll freely admit that access to the media allowed him to do it.

The reason people see nationalism as advantageous is even more interesting. They always do when things aren't 100% as it's an easy thing for some one to blame. People don't like change and things have slowly in the very early 70's followed by much much more quickly. Obviously all down to the EU even though the same thing has happened all over the world except in undeveloped countries. Those are the ones that got the work.

Well, if you have to join a club you might as well join the most powerful one. Just saying...
I agree.

We should maybe be a member of the biggest trading bloc in the world?

Andy: am I right in thinking you live in Northern Ireland and are a Unionist?

The Northern Ireland situation is not germane to the discussion. The problems in Northern Ireland are criminal, and are due to our successive spineless governments giving in to criminal pressure. If capital punishment had not been abolished, we would not have had "the troubles".

I'm surprised that people don't realise that independence in the UK, Brexit feelings and even more waving the confederate flag in the USA are all related.
All part of the same cultural backlash against the undermining of national identity by immigration, loss of jobs and status, political correctness, elites and all sorts of other things.

Probably not a great example, it was mass immigration that brought down the Roman Empire.

Or disease.

Or parasites transmitted in fish sauce

Or lead poisoning damaging the brain

Or war

Or climate change

Or a political system enabling rulers (like Trump and Johnson) who were incompetent and destroyed their own nation.

Your immigration hypothesis is not widely supported. Did you read it on one of your anti-foreigner, anti-immigrant websites?

Various historians, Wikipedia, all manner of reference material. Do you have a link to your widely believed sources debunking this?

Or tax-dodging by the rich and powerful.

Or corruption among the political elite

Sound familiiar?

Yes, you were saying that England had been ruined by the Roman invasions.

Wales had been ruined by the English

Ireland had been ruined by the Scots.
