IIRC the Daimler 250 (mid-late 1960s vintage) was a V8 with a four-lobe distributor. Thus the distributor contained two sets of points to fire all 8 cylinders. Something in the back of my mind says it was a Lucas distributor as well!
Yes, that was the same excellent engine, and the Lucas distributor in the SP250 [Dart] had an eight lobe cam with two sets of points as described above. It may have been redesigned by the mid-60s. My Daimler was registered in July '62, and the Saab 96 was from '66. The 4.5 litre V8 would also rev into the 6000 range.
