What are wet and dry vacuum cleaners useful for and do I need one!

Coincidentally, our Miele cat and dog died the other day and as a rapid stopgap we bought the cheapest Toolstation wet and dry.

Our Miele cat and dog is now about 20(?) years old. Lovely machine. Before that I had an AEG Vampyre which was only retired because the power ring in the hose to the motorised head had split.

I still have a Vampyr (edit: 406), relegated to cleaning the car now, super machine.

I think the motorised head failed twice, the rest of it, fine.

Now got a Miele C3, very comparable but better exhaust filter.

It was a great machine.

The builders used it to hoover up plaster and carp, and now the bag compartment bursts open and the motor sounds weird.

I need to examine it to see if it's terminal.

Ahhhh.... I think it was you that I offered to send my old Vampyr bags to ages ago. When I finally had the time to do so I couldn't find your PM. If it was indeed you, PM me again and when I get a chance (in a few weeks) I will send them to you, from memory I still have two and a bit boxes (will need to double check though).
