Forgive the M60 getting in the way, but I thought this was a rather fetching sunset.

Me and Mrs Mottie took the dog out for a walk over the fields near us this morning. Our dog was on a lead. When we got to a gap in the hedges between one field and another a ****ing great Rottweiler came charging through and went straight for our dog. I pulled her round behind me but the bloody Rotty was chasing it round and round. I was turning so fast I thought I was going to end up swinging my dog round on the lead by it's neck. I gave the Rotty a swift kick to the head but it barely blinked. I did it again, and again, and again and kept doing it while it was trying to get to my dog. Its head was the size of a football. Mrs Mottie was screaming. Eventually it's owners came along and got hold of it. I told them to put the ****ing thing on a lead if they can't control it. I didn't get so much as an apology or anything from them - all they were interested in was checking its face and mouth out. We left them to get on with it. Why does it only seem to be a certain type of owner that has big, dangerous dogs that they can't control which they let run free?

Family shop, stop off at the bakers, solicitors, PO chemist, drop missus at the station, lunch for the Muppets, skateboard shopping with the Muppets and home via a couple of hours at a local skatepark, fit two catflaps, dinner for the Muppets, get the buggers into bed over the next hour or two and then a few hours of R&R. A woman's work is never done I tell thee.

Went up to the Church with Mrs Mottie where our niece is buried and laid some flowers on her grave. Tidied it up a bit while we were there too. She died at only 2 years of age after 18 months in hospital. Our sis-in-law lived up the hospital with her for most of that time. She would have been 19 tomorrow. I always come away from the graveyard a bit tearful thinking of how things could have turned out. Still, her memory carries on in our hearts, a charity was started and others with her rare condition have been helped over the years. The comedian Sean Lock was our patron and we lost him last year too. Life really isn't fair sometimes. :(

That's awful. I'm so sorry. Loosing a child is the worst thing I can think of. My mum always said that she wanted to go before any of her sons.... that's another blessing.... x

Just finished the 'Christmas' Chocolates* - well thought I had then opening the freezer section of the 'fridge and found another (ice cube) tray of them!

* they're home made - the fruit from the Damson Gin encased in melted plain chocolate - delicious!

That has just reminded me - We still have a spare turkey crown in the freezer from Christmas. We went to our sons for Xmas dinner but in case it was cancelled by covid or government lockdowns like last year, we bought a reserve.

13 mile bike ride after breakfast, bacon & egg bun & cappuccino for brunch then a walk around the boardwalks on local nature reserve, no Ospreys yet but spotted a Marsh Harrier being mobbed by some Crows, home for a snooze now

Usual dog walk over our local country park. They've recently cleared/restored an old pond in the woods. Today we saw two pairs of ducks on there. Never seen ducks like them before so I looked them up when I got home. They were Eurasian Wigeons. I wonder if they are going to nest there?

If you do see Ospreys, try to grab a snap if you're able. They're one of my favourite birds. Nothing like that here, but there's a sparrowhawk that visits from time to time and i've been lucky enough to see her at close quarters; sans camera, i'm afraid.
