What have you been doing today?

Bad news, good news, bad news, good news……just gotta wait for more bad news!

Our car was going in today for accident repair work, will take about a week. The other party's insurance is paying it as well as a hire car. Had the hire car booked since Monday for delivery to my house this morning. No car arrived but got a text at 10.52 from Hertz saying basically, tough, we can’t get you a car. Phoned up the third party's insurance co (AA) and they rebooked me with AX and I had a brand new A3 with just 600 miles on the clock delivered to the accident repair workshop.

Had to cancel a flight to Jersey last year so rebooked for this year. Booked flights with BA - they cancelled a month or more ago. Got a refund - eventually. Rebooked with Jet2 - they’ve just cancelled flights so just rebooked again with sleazy jet but we're not holding out hope of getting there again this year. I know it, I just know it. :(

Managed to get a refund on my Stansted parking and will rebook at Luton. Becoming a bit of a pain this holiday booking malarkey - four flight cancellations for this Jersey trip so far - I'm sure they are using my payments and payments of others as an interest free loan, they should be made to a decent interest amount on cancelled flights. I'm kind of glad we’ve sold up in Spain, especially as they’ve now closed our nearest airport and are asking a fortune for a hire car. Sod flying anywhere these days, it’s UK or cruising from the UK from now on - at least until airlines and airports get their act together and settle down!

Lovely!
My holiday gaff on the coast shares its drainage with next door, and the interceptor trap is on my land.
It transpires the holiday 'guests' have put their dog poo bags down the bog complete, and blocked things up nicely.
Cheers folks! Hope you had a nice stay and Northumberland was good to you
John :(

Bike ride. First over the allotment to do some watering and then I just went for it. Through one of our local parks, on through Rainham village, over the train lines, through Rainham marshes and kept going until I got to the Thames. Turned round, came back. Must have done over 15 miles.

You can just see the QE2 bridge in the background.

I must say I’ve got a bit of a sore 'arris at the moment and I did cheat a bit - I thumbed it on the throttle for about a third of the way!

Our country park used to be a former RAF station in the war. There's pill boxes and Tett Turrets all over the place for its defence.

Cycle ride with Mrs Mottie over to the allotment tonight to do a bit of watering. If I say so myself, it’s coming along a treat. Several plot holders including the allotment manager have complimented me on it.

So, we have courgettes

Been sodding around with my ISA today. Fixed term ended 6 days ago. Basically, the new provider ****ed up the transfer and it didn’t go through. Not going with them now, bit of a result as rates are rising so going to park it in an easy access ISA, no-penalty-for-leaving account until I decide what to do.

A bit of harvesting over the plot this morning. Salad spuds (charlottes) and courgettes.

Got the kids coming round later for an early Father’s Day gathering as we are out tomorrow.

Been neglecting my garden, but managed to almost finish tile backer boarding the bathroom. And pool was put up Thursday, heated from Friday, and 30 degrees today, so made the most of it before the weather turned.
