What have you been doing today?

I’ve just had a notification on my Barclays app that Mrs Mottie has just spent £2.49 in Robert Dyas so I bet she's bought something for the washing machine too. It can only help!

You're buying so many chemicals, you'll be having the authorities thinking you're a terrorist cell :ROFLMAO:

All these purchases and all the washes, it may work out cheaper to buy a new machine.
That’s what mrs Mottie said. It’s been running non stop since 6.00 his morning, not including the couple of washes last night. Anyway…..seems okay now, washed some jeans again and no smell of Parrafin but Mrs Mottie has bought some soda crystals home with her. Phew!

Just been out my garage and butchered a brace of pheasants that were shot on Saturday and had been hung. Popped the meat in the freezer. I’ll buy some venison and make a nice game casserole in the new year.

I take that back. The fabric softener masked the smell. She's just washed some towels …..and they stink of Parrafin. Now trying half a kilo of soda crystals. Looking like it’s going to be a new machine.

That's such a shame.

There's lots of information out there about getting rid of diesel smells, more than there is about paraffin or kerosene, but I think it all works the same. They all agree it makes an awful mess of the machine, but that eventually it goes, with enough hot washes, and lots of white vinegar, or baking soda, or coca cola. One thread claimed oil workers swear by coca cola. I would dispute the people who say to use white vinegar and baking soda together, because they will react and neutralise each other. Unless that reaction is what actually is supposed to help. If I were doing it, I would try it both ways. It sounds like a massive pain to get rid of. Some even suggest putting a couple of drops of fairy liquid in with everything else to get the wash really foamy, and I thought that was an absolute no no.

The cost of running a washing machine is a lot less than I used to think. Even on my ancient machine, a 90C wash only takes 2.1KWh. You can probably do ten washes for £5.

Well that didn’t work. Worse if anything. Just put another wash on using bio powder instead of non bio. I wish I’d just chucked the bloody dog towel and cage mat. Too late now. The machine has been on non-stop since about 6.00 this morning. Poxy Parrafin! She's started looking at new machines and says she's having nothing but another Meile.

Just to add, if you read advice in posts which refer to using baking soda, they mean bicarbonate of soda, not baking powder. I've known this to be confusing in the past. I once found my ex gargling with baking powder. And white vinegar is sometimes called distilled vinegar.

We've used this stuff.
