What have you been doing today?

Well, no luck again. Beginning to lose hope now. Just tried it with some washing up liquid. Foam everywhere, even coming out of the drawer! I kept stopping it, draining, rinsing, draining, rinsing…..finally got rid of the bubbles. Just put it on a quick wash with another towel with some bio powder and Mrs Mottie says leave it alone with door open today to see if smell evaporates. Can’t see it myself but we’ve tried everything else so why not. Weirdly, with the washer going practically all day, we only used just over a quids worth more electricity yesterday compared to what we normally use.

Edit: Smells okay to me (again) after a quick wash so I’m going to give it one more for luck!

Why not use a launderette for the clean stuff and use your smelly machine for dirty stuff like workwear, doggy bedding etc until you are happy with it, it will go away eventually.

I wouldn’t know where to find a launderette - I thought they only had those in 'Eastenders'? Do they all have a Dot Cotton in there that will do a service wash or do you have to wait by the machine in case one of the locals steals your clothes? Mrs Mottie has been busy with work and her mother and the washing is piling up, she's panicking! I need corporal Jones to come round and calm her down. ;)

There will probably be more of them than you think.
20221221_082123.jpg It rained here a couple of weeks ago when we were out and all the shoes in the shoe rack on the balcony got soaked. After the rain, it was humid for a week and my trainers started to stink because they couldn't dry. She put the salts in them but after a week they still smell.

Or just buy a £200 Beko (instead of going to the launderette), and do as Stivino suggests anyway?

Then swap the Beko to the garage / work, if the Miele returns.

Try the Screwfix stuff - a shot to nothing anyway, it seems right now.

Final throw of the dice; logically, the paraffin will only stick or ingrain into something permeable, like a hose or something.
Get an engineer to replace that - it'll rot through anyway now, having had paraffin in it - and that might sort it.

Ultimate is that Mrs Mottie wanted a new machine anyway, and she'll always be able to "smell" it ;)

A pair of my running pumps have been left out in the rain for a month, to rid them of the funk.

Might fetch them in in 2023 (y)

No. It’s got to be a like-for-like replacement as a punishment for me interfering in her domain. :cautious: I’m always being told to leave the washing machine alone after finding and trying out the 'steam' function with her tops and trousers and shrinking them!

No, she honestly just wants the one she's got.

But most trainers can be put through the washer on a cool cycle (non bio preferred as bio will attempt to digest meat products such as leather)

And they need to be dried before they go mouldy, with low heat and lots of air circulation.

Mine were washed after they got wet and smelly, they were still smelling after the wash, that's why she bought the salts (I'm not sure what they are and I don't know where she's put the container)
After I've worn them a couple of times they'll be fine.

Normally do (inside an old pillow case), but went for the au naturelle eco-friendly option this time!

Plus, the noise of them bashing around the machine makes me think it must be buggering it up, to some degree.

I know someone who will be selling a good-quality washing machine shortly.

Coming back from the shops I saw a neighbour had left this outside their house as a freebie so I parked up and walked back to take it. Flat tyres, rusty chain, partially seized gears and brake cables but nothing that can’t be fixed in my cycle maintenance class. One of the students can have it when it’s safe to ride on the road.

And another! Left out against a front wall. I knocked of course just to be sure because it’s all complete, disc brakes, lock-off forks and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Well, it probably could do with new tyres as they are a bit worn but I rode it back to my house. :giggle:

I locked myself out of my car today, my mate unlocked it by rubbing his leg against the door. He was wearing his Khaki trousers.

Having Aldi Quiche Lorraine for lunch, which is usually really nice. But it made me ponder a few things. Is it better hot or cold? When did it stop being called Bacon and Egg Flan? And do real men still not eat it?
