What have you been doing today?

A trip to Lakeside shopping Centre to get a new battery fitted to Mrs Motties iPhone at the Apple Store. Had to book an appointment with a 'Genius' a few days ago as you can’t just walk in. Of course when I 'checked in' I got the third degree - what’s wrong with it/is it your phone/do you know the Apple ID and password/we have a battery in stock but if we **** it up we don't have a new iPhone 8 to give you so are you okay to come back if that happens/have you got ID? I had my company debit card plus copies of my passport and driving licence on my phone but that wasn't good enough. No ID so had to set a password with them and then sign a load of disclaimers that I couldn’t be bothered reading and then only after they ran 'diagnostics' was I allowed to leave and told to come back in…two. ****ing. Hours! So, two hours to kill over there. Went into the Levi store bought a pair of jeans, £100, they wanted to charge me 15p for a paper carrier bag. When I queried it, they knocked the 15p off. Lord Sugar would have been proud of me. Still had an hour and 55 minutes to kill so bought a coffee from Costa and went back to the car and watched a couple of episodes of 'Everybody loves Raymond' that I had downloaded on my phone. Went back a bit early and after giving the password, they told me it was done. Again, they ran diagnostics, proclaimed it was fine and after signing a few things on their tablet and giving my email address for the receipt I was allowed to pay and go home. This morning certainly dragged!

I'd have told them to **** off at the 'book an appointment' stage.

Much easier, and less troublesome, just going to an independent phone repairer. I don't know how they compare for cost, but I paid around £30 for my SE to have a new battery installed, supposedly OEM.

Well I paid an extra £19 and it was definitely an OEM battery. Would that supplier have supplied you with a brand new iPhone SE if it crashed during the install? I reckoned that for £49 with a guarantee and fitted by the manufacturer wasn’t too bad - she got 5 and a bit years out of the last one.

Checked tyres, oil & water on the car ready for a trip to Brum tomorrow for the Motorhome & caravan show, stopping off at Shrugborough NT for grub on the way, Premier Inn overnight

Went round my mums this morning to repair her loose and broken rear step. Only tools I had was a plastic dustpan to knock up with and a couple of paint scrapers to flop the cement on with. Oh, and I’d better hold off on my application for that quantity surveyors job - I bought two bags of sand and one of cement and I still have most of it left! :ROFLMAO:

Just applied for an American Express preferred rewards Gold card and I have already been accepted. 20,000 bonus Avios points when you spend £3K in the first 3 months plus 4 free airport lounge visits. Going to use it to book a holiday with BA. £160 annual fee only payable from year 2 onwards but I’ll have had the holiday, had the lounge visits and would have cancelled it long before then. Can't reapply and get the rewards again within 2 years but if they are still running the promotion next year, Mrs Mottie can apply. ;)
