What have you been doing today?

Spent the afternoon at the hospital having final blood/urine/BP/respiratory checks done before going in tomorrow morning for my first dose of chemo.
All looking good on my Patient Portal at the moment but just waiting for 2 urine tests to come back, (usually posted around midnight for some strange reason), so they can calculate a third result. So now getting myself some snacks, crossword books and 2 DVDs to keep me entertained while I sit/lay there for 6-8 hours hooked up to a very slow drip.

Getting close to dinner time so called the daughter on the way out of the hospital and told her to grab granddaughter and meet us at the Chinese buffet. Had a lovely 2 hours eating, laughing and setting little problem solvers for G/D who loves trying to get the answers right.

There’s a patch of council owned land in my road where the postbox and a telephone box were sited. The telephone box has long gone leaving more space. The roadsweepers normally miss that patch out so either I or another neighbour go over there to clear it up every so often. This morning as I was picking it up, I found a bloody great kitchen knife in the bush! Don't know whether it had been discarded or hidden there but it’s now in my dustbin.

I would suggest you take it back out of your bin and hand it into the police.
A lot of crimes go unreported in local papers if deemed not worthy enough. It could be the police are looking for someone seen carrying such a weapon but, because no actual crime appears to have been committed, it is a no-news story.
Seems strange as to how/why it ended up there.

Chemo went well. Lovely group of nurses who were constantly checking everything was ok, making me cups of coffee and handing out biscuits, sweets and snacks. Put me at ease when I first entered and re-assured me throughout that everything was looking good.

Todays session lasted 6.5 hours from start to finish but next one on 2nd March will probably take about 4 hours as they will be able to speed up the flow rate as I had no adverse reactions to todays procedure.

Think I will be taking a tub of chocolates and some biscuits in next time as a small token of my appreciation.

Don't forget your phone charger!

We went to the ayuntamiento (kind of like the council) to renew my certificado de viajes (certificate of journeys).
We are going to Madrid and Segovia for a few days and having the certificate gives me a 75% discount on travel when I am in Spain, that includes all of the Canary Islands.
Canarios get it because they are isolated from the peninsul and because I have residency, I can get it too.
Instead of having to pay 280€ return to Madrid, I only have to pay 70€ :giggle:

Just got back from a post-op follow up on Susie's eyelid operation. Doing well so far and the histology report came back all good too, so very happy and relieved with that. Still can’t take the cone off yet - got another follow up on Monday and hopefully it can come off then. She's done well to put up with it for a week so far. Could take another week or two for the stitches to dissolve.

The FIL used to take boiled sweets in with him to suck on as he said the chemo left a metallic taste in his mouth.

Not yet, it went straight in my dustbin but Mrs Mottie says I should take it out and wrap it up in case the bin men stab themselves when picking it up. I best get me thick gloves out.

Why would a binman pick up a knife that is in your bin?

We are not allowed to put glass/bottles in the recycling bin in case someone at the tip cuts themselves.

Err, don't your operatives wear protective clothing such as gloves, safety glasses, toe-tector boots, tough wearing trousers, etc, etc, etc?
We are also expected to rinse out plastic milk bottles, cans, in fact anything which has contained food. Which means we are paying them for their service and doing their job for them.

No taste in my mouth, but then I was nibbling on biscuits and tangerines throughout. Oh, and chocolate. LOL

We have black bin bags for our rubbish collection and she thought it might cut them through the bag if they picked it up in the wrong place. As it happens I’ve just come back from the supermarket and we always throw any old veg out when I've bought fresh. I had half a dozen sweet potatoes going on the turn so I made a sweet potato kebab using the knife as a skewer. Sorted!

A trip to Lakeside shopping Centre to get a new battery fitted to Mrs Motties iPhone at the Apple Store. Had to book an appointment with a 'Genius' a few days ago as you can’t just walk in. Of course when I 'checked in' I got the third degree - what’s wrong with it/is it your phone/do you know the Apple ID and password/we have a battery in stock but if we **** it up we don't have a new iPhone 8 to give you so are you okay to come back if that happens/have you got ID? I had my company debit card plus copies of my passport and driving licence on my phone but that wasn't good enough. No ID so had to set a password with them and then sign a load of disclaimers that I couldn’t be bothered reading and then only after they ran 'diagnostics' was I allowed to leave and told to come back in…two. ****ing. Hours! So, two hours to kill over there. Went into the Levi store bought a pair of jeans, £100, they wanted to charge me 15p for a paper carrier bag. When I queried it, they knocked the 15p off. Lord Sugar would have been proud of me. Still had an hour and 55 minutes to kill so bought a coffee from Costa and went back to the car and watched a couple of episodes of 'Everybody loves Raymond' that I had downloaded on my phone. Went back a bit early and after giving the password, they told me it was done. Again, they ran diagnostics, proclaimed it was fine and after signing a few things on their tablet and giving my email address for the receipt I was allowed to pay and go home. This morning certainly dragged!
