Visited Docs for Typhoid & Hep A vaccines in prep for our trip to India in September, last ones (2000) throbbed a bit but so far so good

Roman museum in St Albans, then the De Havilland museum just outside St Albans.
Always amazes me that a company went from building wooden biplanes to nuclear submarines in well under a century.

Had fun cleaning the fence at the top of the garden where Jackdaws and squirrels have made merry hell on the paintwork. Another coat will help it through the winter and i'll be looking to see if a freshly fledged robin survives. He kept me company, off and on, but on the third panel everywhere went very quiet...nary a sound...i looked around then heard a plaintive cry from above and watched Hawk sail overhead, looking for lunch. It couldn't have been more than 20' above my head and not for the first time cursed myself for not taking the camera with me. Now nobody will believe me.:( Just to cap it all off, as i finished for the day squirrel scampered across the top of the freshly painted trellis. Oi! you furry f........r!!

Have you gone north this week for a bit of culture?

I've seen a few of the regulars, jumping from the tree branches, to land on my summerhouse roof. It worked fine when the apex roof surface was felted, but now they haven't a hope - not since we redid the roof with box section metal. Now they just skid straight off, they cannot get a purchase. Same with the birds, they can only land along the apex.

House sitting the 'Manor house' for family. It's becoming a regular thing.

First 10 years of living in Cornwall I didn't much like coming back to 'the smoke'. In recent years I've started to enjoy it, shopping in John Lewis, museums and civilisation. Walking into a pub and not seeing everyone stop what they're doing to stare at you.

Her ladyship was due back today, at tea-time, so we decided the easy solution for a meal was the local pub, where I agreed to meet her. I walked in first, ordered the drinks and said to the barmaid, I would be soon be ordering food in a few minutes - I didn't want it delivered to soon, until she had arrived on the bus from town.

As the bus got nearer, I went to order, but only to be told by the barman they were not serving any food that evening, they had a party in - &**())UY. The barmaid could have told me when I ordered drinks, they could have put a sign up, they could have removed the menus. Nothing which wasn't frozen at home, so we had to make do with f&C, from the local chippy.

Both of us very annoyed.

Bae submarines are originally Vickers Armstrong who became part of the Bae empire, fillyfact alert

De Havilland, early wooden biplanes through to the the De Havilland Comet, first commercial jet passenger plane, jet fighters in 1943, merged with Hawker Siddely which went on to become BAE. Vickers Armstrong were 'absorbed' somewhere along the way, it's now all the same company.

FFS man are you mental, why do you feel the need to pick apart every post I write, does it make you feel like a big man.

WTF is wrong with you?

That's a cruel streak of humour, right there: doesn't the roof get hot in summer?

I just read this in the Guardian and count myself lucky! I think the snake came off worst in that encounter.

I do not pick apart all your posts I leave that to others, but your original claim is misleading, BAE took over around 2000 AFAIK, that does not make them submarine builders.
