What have you been doing today?

Had to pop back to Lard Towers for summat totally unrelated & thought I'd take a brisk walk in my woodland to calm down a bit.

I thought I had left very specific instructions on how we deal with the squirrels !

Apparently not. It seems my instructions have either been ignored or conveniently forgotten.

Each year we have traditionally enjoyed a harvest of 5lbs - 8lbs of hazlenuts & 10lbs-15lbs of chestnuts . . . But not this year.

All gone, nothing left, nada, zilch. There are no hazlenuts or chestnuts left to harvest. Lots n lots of big fat squirrels, but no nuts for xmas.
How do you deal with 'em: shotgun? catapult? trebuchet? scorpion?

I've done sod all today.
Give it time. I'm still on coffee and baccy.

That’s frustrating. My dad has the same issue with the plums in his orchard. If he doesn’t pick them when they’re ripe, then either the birds get them or the wasps do!

Yesterday we went to Arley Hall Gardens near Northwich. I was going to invite me Ma, but she had some bad shoulder pain that she was getting treatment for. We'll take her again when she's better.

I took some photos to show her. It's not the same, but it's better than nothing. I was surprised there was so much still out, my F-i-L was gobsmacked the rhododendron was still flowering and some were even in bud.

Weihrauch HW77K, by far the bestest air rifle I ever owned.
You do talk some rubbish.

Assuming you had the woodland, the nut trees, the staff to tend to them and an air rifle, you would have instructed the staff to use the rifle and other methods to keep the vermin down.

Indeed if your staff were worth their salt, they would know what to do to look after your crops.

A quick trip to the plot of Mott to clear a few beds. Got a sack full of mixed peppers - too much for us to eat so I shared them out with family.

Went over the Bro-in-Laws for a little get together to celebrate his 23 year old son completing his degree in something or other and to see him off to do another 4 year long doctorate! Something to do with manufacturing diamonds in a lab. Whatever. He'll be 27 before he even starts looking for a job - that’s assuming he can’t find another course to go on, the lazy student git!
Our grandson had a great time in the man cave tending the bar and….throwing darts. Two were enough before we had to distract him. He has plenty of computer games and stuff at home but he was absolutely hooked on the Pac-Man pub table. The old ones are the best!

Went on a shopping trip to Clarks Village in Somerset. Almost didn't go because the weather was misty and crap, once Bodmin Moor was in the rear view mirror it brightened up nicely, was actually quite warm and bright.
Coming home, not far past the 'nearly home trees' the weather turned to crap again, it was a real pea souper up on the moors. Glad we got out of Cornwall for a day.

For anyone who doesn't know, the 'nearly home trees' are a copse of trees on a hill near the border.

Nice picture: is it on the bathroom wall?

Started my end of season tidy up over the plot. Cleared a few beds and brought some pumpkins and squash into the greenhouse to ripen off.

Disassembled our old bed this morning and put the new one together in less time than it takes United to lose another European match at home. Another 'free' allen key for the collection. Herself was suitably impressed and tonight we shall enjoy cocoa and cookies on a super-comfy mattress. Sweet dreams are made of this...

Been on the phone arguing with my new ISA provider. My old one matured on 1st October and should have transferred to my new provider. Checked online today, nothing in there. Checked my old provider, my ISA is still there. Phoned them up, asked why, was told no transfer request has been submitted my new provider. Got on to my new provider, they are saying I didn’t fill in a transfer request at application when I 100% know that I did. I was quite forceful in telling them this. They tried the old "If you are going to talk to me like that…" brush off. "Like what" I said - "I haven’t been rude, I haven’t sworn so what are you on about". Still insistent that I hadn’t applied for transfer. Told him to look at the application form and tell me what I have put in the box that is asking how I will be funding the account.

In any case, I had trouble logging on when I opened the account so I phoned up. The person I spoke to told me how to log on and I asked then what will happen and she told me that when my transfer had gone through, it will show in my account and I will get a letter confirming the transfer had gone through, so it is quite obvious that there was a transfer authorisation completed.

I told him I wanted to make a complaint and that I wanted the transcript of the previous call. He said I’d have to make a subject access request so I said ‘I’m making one now'. He went away to speak to someone. Came back on the line after some time and had a different tone about him. He apologised and told me that they will deal with the transfer today but it can take up to 15 days (funny that, they didn’t ask where my money was being transferred from so that will be interesting), the transcript of my call would be sent out and he asked me if I would accept £25 to resolve the complaint. I said no I bloody wouldn’t! I’m making a formal complaint and I’d be looking for loss of interest for up to 15 days plus the 4 days they’ve already missed which will be a fair bit more than the £25 they offered me. Already had a letter telling me my complaint is being dealt with but could take up to 8 weeks. I’m not letting it go.

Rant over!

Ordered a pair of new front tyres for tractor, they indicated posted, followed by an email saying the didn't have stock, so delayed, but promised they would be here a week late, followed by yet another email suggesting they would be even later, because they still had got them from their supplier - so I messaged back to say cancel and refund. They sent them anyway, and it would cost me to return them, so I gave up.

This week I ordered some tap adaptors, and I'm getting the same run around over them not having them in stock. Rather than be messed about, I just told them to cancel and refund me.

Why do ebay sellers advertise stuff they don't actually have in stock?

In 15 years or so I don't think I've ever ordered anything off ebay that didn't arrive just fine. Do you ever check feedback etc?
