We stay at the caravan site, nice walk down through the woods, hard work going back after a bottle of wine and steak & chips

Fecked my worktop up today. Made myself an espresso, popped a half cube of Demerara sugar in it and instead of stirring it with a spoon, I stood looking out of the window at a wood pigeon on my grass while swirling the espresso cup on the worktop to stir the sugar up. Didn’t realise the damage I did. Now it’s given Mrs Mottie ideas about changing the worktops. And the units. And and and. All because of a cup of coffee. Can this be repaired?

I wonder would a gentle plastic polish (like Grey Gate polish) get those scratches out…

I wired a kitchen of a neighbour, the kitchen fitter seems to be struggling and took what I thought was a long time. He was finishing off and dropped a screwdriver point first taking a small but noticeable chip out of the worktop, it was the side with the sink and hob cut outs too, took another two days to change

Went round my sisters today to drop a birthday card and present in and in her road I saw a skip with some decent pieces of timber in it. 7”X 2” by about 10 ft. I knocked and asked and they said help yourself. I went back and got the Golf and ran 8 pieces over the allotment. Had to spend a bit of time de-nailing them but they’ll make good veg beds. A builder who has a plot over there said I was lucky - not many people give wood like that away.

Appointment, at local surgery, for flu and covid jabs. I was due there at 13:31, but knowing they reopen after lunch at 1pm, I arrived at 12:45, on the bus, in the hope of getting in and out earlier. Plan was to ring Avril, to meet her and dog, on the bus, to continue on to the next town for some shopping, once done and out. I was in by 12:55, out by 13:07, both into one arm. (no sweatie offered). I had a £10 coupon needing spending in Morrisons, and the nearest one is in town - it bought three chickens. The coupon, a gift, a result of some long forgotten form I completed, on some medical research matter.

It began to ache on the bus home, and became quite sore after dinner, so I decided to have an hot bath, to see if that helped. It helped a lot.

Had to pop back to Lard Towers for summat totally unrelated & thought I'd take a brisk walk in my woodland to calm down a bit.

I thought I had left very specific instructions on how we deal with the squirrels !

Apparently not. It seems my instructions have either been ignored or conveniently forgotten.

Each year we have traditionally enjoyed a harvest of 5lbs - 8lbs of hazlenuts & 10lbs-15lbs of chestnuts . . . But not this year.

All gone, nothing left, nada, zilch. There are no hazlenuts or chestnuts left to harvest. Lots n lots of big fat squirrels, but no nuts for xmas.
