Up at 5.30 as the heating hadn’t come on - first time on the timer this year. Turned the power off, turned it back on and it fired up and started working. Pretty sure it was the motorised valve. Dog walk over the country park. Met our friend and she said she was freezing as her heating hadn’t come on this morning either. "I bet it’s that bloody motorised valve playing up again" she said! Snap! Came home, cleared the airing cupboard out and stripped the valve motor off. Went up and bought a new one and fitted that. All seems to be working fine now - I will find out for sure tomorrow morning! Went over the allotment, dug up the final few rows of spuds and then sieved the whole bed to get the stones out. Mixed in plenty of well rotted horse manure. Planted approximately one third of the bed with 48 garlic cloves. The rest of the bed will be for carrots and parsnips next year (garlic keeps the carrot root fly away) so I covered that two thirds up for overwintering. Dug over last years raised onion bed and gave that a layer of rotted manure too - that will be next years sweetcorn patch. I do like a bit of crop rotation. That’s two beds done which is approx 10% of my plot. Still have stuff to harvest yet though - cavolo nero, carrots, swedes, sprouts, cabbages and some butternut squash. I might even try growing some salad in the greenhouse this winter. Had the tea ready for Mrs Mottie when she came home after being at work this morning and then straight from work to her mums, caring for her (dementia) all afternoon. She was hungry and knackered and appreciated coming straight in and sitting down to a hot meal. I’ve not even had a chance for my afternoon nap today though so I’ll probably nod off watching the telly later. It’s all go this not working, isn’t it! :ROFLMAO:

The actuators are the easiest of fixes, and it seems the most likely point of failure. I always keep a spare one to hand, for when the in use one might give problems. It beats chasing round for one, in a panic, and paying a distress purchase price for one.

I on catering duty, every weekday during school term time, because Avril doesn't get home until 6pm. Tonights fare, was a ready made sweat and sour chicken with rice.
