What have you been doing today?

F*** sake Harry it's a mystery why your last lassie didn't want to know, 3 minutes in the microwave, such a romantic!

Microwave - no. It was deep fried battered chicken, and the rice was boiled. Only the sauce was microwaved, and there was a lit candle on the table.

It was her choice, something quick and simple for a change. Tonight's fare, is a homemade braised beef stew, with mash.

I have been cleaning the bum of a tiny kitten we found last night while driving home from our daughters. The smell was making me gag.
It fits in my had so god knows how we saw it as it was in the gutter of the A1011 in the middle of nowhere.

The only day the cats protection place is closed is a Tuesday.

Did a batch cook this afternoon. 3 double portions of Bolognese sauce, 3 double portions of Chilli con Carné. Needed a drop of red for the Bolognese so opened a bottle. Couldn’t resist having a sip or two, just to make sure it was okay to use. ;)

Slurp, slurp!

I've just 'killed' my latest batch of homemade white, and prepped 30 bottles, ready for filling. It's been fermenting away the past 15 days, a couple more days and I can probably begin filling them. I'm down to my final 8 bottles, of my last batch. This time around, instead of checking the progress with a hydrometer, I used a refractometer I bought a few years ago. I have struggled to use a gadget for a few recent batches, which stays in the brew, and reports its tilt via wifi. It's tilt, matching the SD, but it's not been as reliable as I'd hoped.

Been tossing and turning last night as I had to make a phone call to a mate to let him know I’d changed my mind about a fly-ride motorbike trip to Spain he was planning for 5 of us in September next year. Felt horrible letting him down as numbers were needed to keep the price low. Went with the same company a few years ago and it was a 4 day guided tour in Spain on a mixture of road, track, forest, dried river beds, plains etc and it was fantastic - we were taken to places we'd have never found on our own and saw a fair chunk of real Spain. This time though, it was an unguided 5 day 'twisties' tour through the Sierra Nevada mountains. You are picked up at the airport and kitted out with a top of the range BMW 1250 GS with satnav, routes pre-programmed and hotels booked. All roads, no off-roading and I just don’t think hammering around twisty mountain roads are my thing any more. Plus, trying to keep up with some of the nutters who are a lot more experienced riders than me, could be the death of me! Anyway, I made the call and he didn't sound disappointed, he just laughed and said no problem, he'd not put any deposits down yet and they have plenty of time to find another rider so I’m feeling a lot better about it now. Phew!
