What have you been doing today?

Sorry, forgot to post yesterday. Went out for a short bike ride.
Came back knackered with a painful perineum. When you've been out of the saddle for so long, it's a bit of a shock to the system!

Mrs Motties sister covers a chicken breast in clingfilm and flattens the **** out of it with a hammer before cooking it. We went out on a long ride once (about 5 miles which is a lot for us) and I remember saying to her that my perineum felt like it had been given the chicken breast treatment by her sister!

Been sodding about trying to get stuff sorted on my new iPhone. We had our nectar points nicked a few weeks ago and they took about £75 of points off. Fark knows how they did it, we assume it was from a card we had stolen about 5 years ago. Anyway, Nectar cancelled that card and sent new ones as well as reinstating our points (15500) plus an extra 2000 for our trouble. All well and good but today I tried to link the new card to my Avios account to transfer points from that to the nectar and it wouldn’t have it. The old card was in my name with Mrs Mottie added as an additional cardholder and the new one was in her name only so wouldn’t link up. Eventually got that sorted by adding me as an additional card holder to her account but it took a while.

Next, I’d upgraded my iPhone recently and transferred everything across but for security reasons, it wouldn’t transfer any of the credit/debit cards in my wallet and they had to be reinstalled. Easy enough except for two of them - Monto and Chase. They wanted me to go through the setup procedure which included taking a picture of my passport and a selfie. I tried and tried but kept getting told ID not working. Each time I received an email asking me how they had done. Told them both the same - fecking useless and I’d had enough, if they didn’t sort it out from their end, they were to close the account and I’d go elsewhere. Miraculously it had sorted itself out fairly quickly. I hate these companies that you can’t speak to and have to do everything over a chat with a robot!

That’s worn me out - I think I’ll have a lie down…..

More sodding about with the phone this morning. Apart from my normal sim with my regular number, I thought I’d try out the dual sim capability of the phone so ordered an e-sim on a different network to see if I can get coverage in the wooded area where I walk my dog each day. Needless to say I cocked up the installation so I deleted it to try again and found out that the QR code is single use. Got to sort that out later now.

All sorted. They had to cancel original sim, refund me (in 5 days) and I had to buy a new one. That one works fine. Interestingly, I ran some speed tests: My ID sim (on Three network), 35mbps, my home Wifi 55Mbps and the LycaMobile sim on EE network, 123mbps! Just got to see if it works where I might want it to tomorrow.

Popped over the allotment, brought home the three pumpkins I have grown this year for my grandson. We are looking after him tomorrow so might have a go at a bit of carving with him. If not, we will drop them back when we take him home and my son can have a go.

Disconnecting our electric cooker today after 8 years good service, ready for our big move tomorrow. Had to disconnect from yje cooker as the cable was already here, (buried in the wall), when we moved in. When it was delivered, the delivery people installed it. Opened the cover, after isolating at switch and consumer unit of course, to discover the earth wire didn't have green/yellow sleeving on it. Instead it had a few turns of brown packing tape! In future I will be checking someone else's work or doing it properly myself.

You were lucky, at least they gave you an earth. When I was repairing my brother's electric shower many years ago, I found the earth only went as far as the circuit breaker. No further.

Was it 240 volt rated packing tape?

You should take him down to the pumpkin patch to wait for the Great Pumpkin to arrive.

Did a batch cook this afternoon. 3 double portions of Bolognese sauce, 3 double portions of Chilli con Carné. Needed a drop of red for the Bolognese so opened a bottle. Couldn’t resist having a sip or two, just to make sure it was okay to use. ;)
