What have you been doing today?

How do you keep doing this?

Doesn't it make you puke?

As a pet owner, it's just one of the things you do. As a cat person I've regularly had to clean out litter trays over the years for various cats I've owned while they're confined the baracks for whatever reason, While not the most pleasant of tasks, it just has to be done. However I couldn ever do it if it was human waste products, would make me barf. Which probably explains why I never had any kids.

Trying to update my car insurance details, (i.e. change of address), and they claim there is no admin charge.
So, puts in new address and they want an extra £92! So go back in and change occupation from retired back to part time worker. This time they want £112! Take that back out and put retired, guess what. They only want £134 extra this time.
Hang on, you want £92 to change address and nothing else?
So, I change retired back to part time worker and now you want £112 for the same details as the £92?
So, I change all details back to what they were on the original application and you now want an extra £134???
A polite phone call in the morning, I think. Speak with a person, (who I can hopefully understand), rather than having a robot do my calculations for me.

Over £200 to change two lots of details. Jeez! My whole insurance premium for the year doesn't come to any more than that.

Not had kids out of choice? They might be insufferable at times but wouldn't have it any other way.

Never had any inclination. Not my thing, and not keen on suffering other people's - especially the younger, noisy ones. Definitely seen and NOT heard. Too much of a Meldrew. Lack of offspring is a family triat. Out of my 3 of closest relatives similar age to me - brother and two cousins - only one cousin has sprogs. Three daughters, so I suppose someone has kept the family line going. Both my Mum's cousins had no kids and other relatives didn't bother. Poss explains why our family whittled away to nothing. I have more close relatives alive in South Africa than I do in this country.

That's interesting so who will you leave your estate to?

Similar situation too me, no kids, and few relatives had any kids.

My wife is with a different insurer, (Aviva), and they didn't change anything. Just noted the change of address.
You could be with the Ryanair of the insurance industry. A low base price but everything else, and I do mean everything else, comes at a cost!

Present one is £287 including legal insurance, protected NCD and windscreen damage. Which is all I cover each year anyway. My wife seems to get free AA/RAC recovery each year because she is disabled and classed as highly vulnerable. It covers her, no matter whose car she is in.
Had a polite chat with insurers this morning and they said amendments are based on 'live markets' and can fluctuate throughout the day. It may go down, but probably won't, especially with this storm coming up. Ended up paying £120! Tried getting a few quotes from others, with the intention of cancelling this and starting afresh. £75 cancellation plus a £25 admin charge and the quotes I was getting back from others was eye-watering! LV wanted £844 with no legal cover, windscreen cover and NCD cover. These all came as 'extras' and a quote would be supplied on application.
Looks like I'll be carless next September at those prices.

Took the car for an MOT test today at the local authority run testing station. Despite dozens of H&S signs warning you not to do this, that or the other, keep your distance, hi-viz to be worn, first aid this way, defibrillator that way, fire fighting equipment here, they have a seating/viewing area where you can choose to either smack your head on the stairs or the fire extinguisher pipe depending on which side of the sofa you sit on. How thoughtful!

Yes, but if you spontaneously combust whilst sitting there, the automatic sprinkler system will quickly put you out.

Us away in the caravan and for days, she has been blaming me for the wet carpet, right in front of the sink - me splashing water as I wash up. An hour ago, she noticed there was a trace of water, inside the narrow under-sink cupboard, with next to it the fridge/freezer. A torch, tissue and a bit of contortion, helped find a tiny leak on a cold pipe union, at the very back of the cupboard. Blue flexible pipe, clamped onto a nylon union, with the usual jubilee clip.

An extra 1/4 turn on the clip, stopped it for now, but it needs further attention when we get it back home.

I hate jubilee clips, they always tend to pull small pipes into tuck, under the screw, where they leak.

This has obviously leaked very slightly, for a long time - the screws in the divider between cupboard and fridge, are rusty. I noticed that a long ago, but assumed it was due to when we got the van home, and let the fridge/freezer defrost.
