What have you been doing today?

It heartened me greatly that theatre staff still hold your hand as an adult as you drift away when you have a GA. I wasn't scared like I might have been as a child (I remember Gran being allowed to hold my hand while I had the anaesthetic in 1972), but I found it comforting to connect to another human being at such a moment.

What if when you have that family, one of your children turns out to have a severe life-threatening allergy that the mainstream schools can’t cater for?

You'd be thanking your lucky stars that you lived in one of the richest counties in the world, one which has a sense of society, selflessness and inclusivity that most can only dream of.......

I think I had one years ago when I had a rupture as a kid but I had one about 10 years or so ago when I had a hernia op. I remember talking to the nurse and then she said "Right, let’s get you back to the ward"! I said "Has the operation been done?" And she said it had been. I didn’t even remember going out. I had another GA a few years ago when I had a biopsy on my prostate. I love 'em! Best sleeps ever. :ROFLMAO:

Went rounds and set up my mums new iPad. The transfer from the old one was no problem but most programmes required you to sign in again so she had to get her hard copy password directory out.

While the weather was fine, I had another play with my drone - my first night flight with my recently purchased stick-on strobe. I just sent it up the road opposite to have a peek at the builders who are putting another floor on the roof of a block of flats at the end. The strobe was brilliant and I could see it as clear as day. Still gave me a stiff neck looking up at it though.

Out of curiosity, when it's up, does it know not to bang in to things, houses, lamp posts, cables and things?
I mean, do you have to look up at it, or can you monitor it another way?

It flies waaay above those things. You are supposed to maintain a visual line of sight at all times. I can see whatever the camera is pointing at on my phone which attaches to the controller. Higher spec machines have collision avoidance built in.

It’s GPS controlled so if you let go of the controls wherever it is, it will just hold dead steady in that spot wherever it is and whatever height it is. If you panic, you can hit the RTH button (Return To Home) and it will go directly up to a set height (I set it at 40 metres but it can go to 120 metres) so it will not bash into anything, then fly to directly above to the spot it took off from and then descend and land.

The only GA I have had, was when I was around 10, for a tooth out. I woke up fighting, and they had to pin me down.

When I was a lad, we were terrified of our dentist. Why?

He never gave any kind of pain relief for any procedure, especially not a filling.

We had to sit there, gripping the arms of the chair, looking up at his great hairy nostrils, watching the strings of the drill go round and slow as he pressed harder. It was fickung barbaric

Stuck in a bizarre and annoying catch 22 situation at moment with my email while abroad. Took my laptop with me. Tried to sign into my Hotmail account - it panicked that someone was trying to get access using a strange device (I usually use my desktop at home) in foreign lands. Gave me some bs that I have entered the wrong password too many times - when I only entered a password once. It said it wanted me to go to my recovery Gmail email account. Tried to open Gmail, and this shat itself too and said I need to go to my recovery email account - which in Gmail's case is my old Yahoo email account. So, surprise surprise - when I tried to open Yahoo it said I needed to go to the designated recovery for that account - which is GMail!!!!!!!!!!

So, despite using the correct passwords I'm snookered. I'm going around in circles and I can no longer go backwards or forwards. Perhaps it's my fault because my recovery options with each account are limited - only one recovery option of one of the other email accounts. This technology is becomming a nightmare with multiple levels of impenetrable security. So with my 3 email accounts all asking me to visit each other for recovery - but I can't unlock them to get recovery details - I have no email for my trip. Crazy!

Fear not - I have no such troubles signing into DIYnot, so I can still spout my nonsense on here. (y)

The V&A has on display the torture kit our dentist Mr Williams used on us as children. I think they should have included his empty mouthwash bottles as they played a big part in his working day.

Now you say that, I remember I had that too. Wasn’t an injection though, it was a gas mask.
Same here still remember the smell of the rubber as they placed over your nose not at all good if you had a blocked nostrils.
