Hmm no thanks, we always used to wrap them in foil.

You had foil when you were a kid cooking spuds on a camp fire? Posh! You can’t beat a burnt outer skin.

A bit of a hunter/gatherer/grower gastro day today. Parasol mushroom on toast for elevensies - foraged on this mornings dog walk, home made potato and leek soup for lunch (both from the plot of mott) and pork roast with my best ever crackling for dinner made with my own home grown spuds and carrots.

Took Susie up the vets today for an ultrasound. Found a few possible nasties so samples taken and sent off. Will take up to ten days to come back before deciding on the next course of action (if any). I have to now collect poo samples to be sent off too. She looks in a right sorry state - she had a bald spot where she was shaved last week for the blood sample, a shaved leg where the catheter was in today and shaved both sides where the ultrasound was used. Still, saved a few bob at the groomers.

What a sorry looking sausage!

Our border collie, has been fine this year, despite the racket from fireworks. In previous years, she's gone into total panic, after the first few bangs, if they continue, looking for somewhere to hide from the noise. The past couple of years, that was the built-in wardrobe. This time, she just tucked herself in the corner, on her bed. No problem with her going out, once it had quiet.

Being a working dog, Susie's never been really bothered by bangs. She used to watch fireworks and bark at them although now having lost 90% of her hearing, she doesn’t even bother to get up for a look these days.

Maybe it's an age thing, we have two cats, one of which has always panicked and hid when the fireworks start, this year she's been quite relaxed about them.
