What have you bought today?

My coffee pods and smoked haddock from Lidl. Oh, and while I was there, I bought a dozen large eggs. £2.39. Other places are asking around the £4 mark - if they’ve got them!

Then, a quick nip in to Sainsbury’s and picked up some wild bird seed. Completely forgot what I actually went out for - Digestive biscuits. Going to have to go back out now but need to wait until Mrs Mottie comes home to use the other car - a camera clocks you going in and out of Sainsburys. 2 hours free parking but only once a day - go back again in the same car and you get a ticket no matter how long you’ve been in there for the first time!

I added my first Christmas goodies to my weekly Aldi shop. This is really nice:

Snap on the trip to Lidl, but not for haddock - I'm well stocked in the freezer, enough for several weeks. I just needed milk, but not worth the trip just for milk, so I went with a list, plus see what took my fancy whilst I was there.

I do a good omelette, but you can't make a decent omelette if they stick to the pan. New pan not that old, 'Hairy Bikers' with a still perfect none-stick grey finish was sticking, despite being careful with it, so time to look out for something better. Lidl had some Salter Megastone omelette size none-stick pans in, guaranteed 10 years, which they claim can be used with metal utensils, so I though - why not. I already had a griddle pan and a large frying pan with a similar sort of speckled finish, and it seems much more robust.

4 litres of Parrafin for my greenhouse heater. £11.50 - that more expensive than petrol!

When we lived in Sydney our flat had no heating, so we bought a National Panasonic paraffin heater , I used to buy "Kero" from the local petrol station, they had a vending machine that dispensed into your own container. We brought it home with us but could not find replacement wicks.

Took Mrs CB into work today, had a look around various shops in the big city, thermal long sleeved vest for me, 1Kg mealworms for my feathered friends, bottle of Port as recommended on Saturday Kitchen & a tank of diesel for the van.
