My dog usually prefers the floor, to her memory foam bed(s) much of the time. On her bed, she sleeps on her back, back legs up on the wall, usually snoring loudly. When I go to bed, up she likes to go first, jumps on my bed and stays there ten minutes, before sauntering off. Then she spends the night back and forth between the top of the landing and the side of the bed. The past few nights, I have woken up in the morning, to find her actually asleep on my bed - obviously she felt cold during the night - she is very careful not to wake me, sneaking onto the bed.

The first time we took her away for a holiday in the caravan, in Pembrokeshire, I drove through the night, arriving in the early hours. Rather than wake others up on the site, I pulled the car and caravan into a lay-bye, got the sleeping bags out, and laid down to get a few hours sleep. Her just 6 months old, she wouldn't settle down either on the floor, on top of the sleeping bag. I grabbed her and pushed her inside the bag. She then settled immediately.

Spent £115 on pair of reading specs from Boots opticians and instantly dislike them. Been several years since last eye test and the prescription has gone up a bit. Now 2.75 left eye, 3 on right. My old readers just had standard lenses - ie. not thinner and were so comfortable hardly knew I was wearing them.

What I didn't bargain for is that higher prescription means thicker lenses. So not realising, I went for standard thickness lenses again. Add to the fact that the new specs have slightly bigger lenses - these new specs weigh a ton. New lenses are heading into Magoo/Coke bottle territory. Not sure if I can live with them as I'm really aware of the extra weight/bulk/thickness - maybe I'll get used to them and I suppose they're only for reading and computer.

Near enough to compromise on one, or the other diopter, I would have thought. I have only ever had two pairs of prescription glasses made up, a pair of readers, and a pair of driving glasses. Every pair I have bought since have been cheap off the shelf ones. 3, at the moment for the readers, which I can buy almost anywhere for not a lot.

Went shopping yesterday to Next/ Tesco/ M&S and going again today to JS/ JL to pick up some last minute bits and pieces; presents and food.

One of my mates told me that he buys two pairs the cheap readers, with the same prescription as he has and swaps the lenses in them to give him two pairs of glasses that fit his prescription.

Trip to Windermere in driving rain to pick up some racing sheep crackers in the sale, bacon bun in the cafe (top notch), Sainsurys for some party food for when we have the neighbours round, visit to local NT property for a quick walk, can out of the shop with three boxes of Xmas cards and a handcrafted bird bath from Zimbabwe, called at Screwfix to pick up my new boots, local garage for ice cream.

Sold another broken mobile on eBay.

Tried to drop it at 4 Post Offices in my local area.

Each was shut.

Now Google has been known to be wrong, but even the RM website said that they were open.

Very odd.

Edited for clarity.
