What have you bought today?

I have a cheap smart phone. I hardly ever use any of the features, except text and phone. One really useful thing, though, is being able to take and send a photo quickly and easily. Last week I needed to send some photos of my problem to a tradesman, and it was just so easy.

Really, the best compromise for me, would be two phones, a simple one, that just makes calls, then a smart for all the cleaver stuff. I'm still trying to fathom out my new Iphone 13's features, trouble is, some are so complex, I quickly forget how to work them and have to experiment again..

It's predecessor, a little SE, constantly offered app updates - this 13, once it had got them up-to-date, hasn't flagged up any at all, apart from a couple of OS updates.

Personally I would go with an android if you want a simpler set up.

I was just about to write the opposite!

I think iPhone has a simpler OS and is more buttoned down. With Android there are just too many options and settings available which most people are never going to understand.

I was just about to post that all smart phones are capable of way more than all but the most tech-savvy / geeky will ever need.

The problem for me with Android is that you can accidentally change things which can compromise its security. Iphones are much more locked down.

How? Why?

I've not looked in Settings for ages. But I remember that if you end up in the Permissions section there seem to be loads and loads of options. And there were other areas as well where I was surprised at the amount of things you could change. Compared to the old iPhone I was given years ago, where you can't really tinker with anything technical. That is the major difference I would say. There are loads and loads of options on an iPhone, but they are all doing obvious and practical things.

On both versions, you can play with the permissions, allowing apps to access gallery or making calls and using microphone etc. However, iPhone has really good tactics of locking up the phone "activation lock". If your phone is registered on "Find my iPhone" you can permanently lock your phone if you lose it and once locked, no one can ever use the phone.

Pfft! Wipe it clean, install kodi and use addons The Crew, Fen light or Umbrella. You’ll need Real Debrid to get the best links though.
Can you add kodi onto the fire stick?
