What have you had for dinner

Thank you, Squire.

We had a similar thing at our surgery which I didn't qualify for either.

I have medical conditions coming out of my ears. Hypertension is one that I could lose if I get rid of a load of weight. And save 6 meds a day out of a total of 38.

My BMI, sadly, is 49.3.

I have a picture on my hospital trolley table of my 3 lads. Age-wise, the middle lad I have seen the most while I have been in hospital as he lives at home. The eldest I have seen a couple of times. Fleetingly.

The youngest I saw today and I was so taken aback, I cried.

I got moist-eyed when Mrs S asked him to repeat to me what he was telling her in the motor on the way over to the hospital.

Dad, I know you have done well in losing some weight since you have been in hospital. But you need to keep it up. You've been overweight a long time now, and I'm worried you will die early because of it. And I don't want to lose you before your time.

This from a kid who is just over a third my age.

I have struggled with my weight in the past. But if anything will shift my weight, that sad speech will

I bought a duck crown from Tesco today for tonight’s dinner. Only £8.50 which was not much more than a couple of duck breasts. Not that impressed - I would've got more meat from two breasts. It’s not like cutting the breasts from a roast chicken - it was fiddly and hard work. It looked a fair size crown but the breasts were tiny. Those breasts you buy separate must come off of a duck the size of a swan! Live and learn….

Dinner has been free cocktail sausages and such alike in my local (must be an Xmas thing). The all important calories have been the 7(?) pints of Kronenbourg.
