The other thing to consider, is that whilst vaccinating 16,000,000 million people is fantastic, thousands would have had Covid at the time.

Stats will be difficult to determine accurately, results will only show up long term.

A friends mother, in her 80's, went into hospital at Christmas and came out with Covid.

Now recovered.

I don't think we can compare last years curve with this years curve.
- We haven't locked down as hard this time, I think most of us remember empty roads and streets etc.
- We also have the more transmittable variants
- antibodies are 3 times higher in the population than in the summer and older people are showing to have high immunity now.

I think governments in general are wise to be cautious about ending a lockdown.
What everyone wants is for this to be the last lockdown.

My bigger question is why, oh why did governments not severely lockdown early last year, and maintain that lockdown until it was obvious that the pandemic had been reduced to manageable levels?

Lessons for the future, I hope.

The jab is suggested to not prevent you getting covid, but to severally limit the symptoms. Old, testing positive, but showing no symptoms is what is supposed to happen.

Stupid in hindsight, yes. Everyone was very much feeling their way, not sure of how the epidemic might react. I took advantage of the 50% on meals as many did.
