Wokeism strikes again

I'm amazed how many people want to promote intolerance.
If anyone wants to be politically correct, why does anyone get so upset about it?
If I want to refer to people with a non-gender specific pronoun, or use someone's preferred title, why do others feel the need to moan about it?
Do they not realise they are being intolerant when complaining about others' desire to demonstrate tolerance.
And to assign an insult to the desire to show tolerance is a surely an attempt to belittle or to prevent tolerance.

I'm tolerant. I had a problem the other day when applying for a credit card, On filling out the form, I had the options of Male or Female. Being a Bisexual Non-Binary Vegan, I could not apply.

Back to the lady from Provvy at the doorstep every Thursday, off I phuck...

There's a wee man on the telly just now talking about the abuse he suffers for his "Dwarfism". Para Olympian too. He was visibly upset about it.

lets look at things logically for a minute here,

tolerance works both ways.. one cant request tolerance and then not offer tolerance themselves..

i'm not saying that if a dwarf wants to be referred to only as a dwarf, then fine, if they want to be referred to as a midget, then also fine.

but i struggle to understand why people cant just let the little things go (pardon the pun), is it really a big deal if midget gems are called midget gems? not really, could the dwarf have just looked past this or decided just not to buy them, likely yes. The situation like this is someone going out of their way to be offended.

this is where the free speech debacle comes into play, you cant beat the free speech drum, and then cancel someone because they have a different view to that of your own.

It's not promoting intolerance. The word midget can mean anything small. People can't go around changing the meaning or structure of language and then accusing people of intolerance if they refuse to accept your new definition. Inclusion and tolerance works both ways.

Was there really any suggestion that midget sweets were poking fun at people with dwarfism, or was it really a fact based name that they are small, or just a PR opportunity. Is the campaigner right to try to remove the word midget from language (her goal), when it has more than one meaning? Should we stop calling female dogs B1tches, or stop using slang for genitals because they can also mean other things?

I'm very sorry that she has been bullied as a result of this, but I think her efforts and intelligence would be better deployed elsewhere.

Trouble is, they will keep chaanging the word(s) which is acceptable. I give up trying to follow.

Oh my God, someone feels that the use of a word is offensive, (and if you look at the origin of the word, it is), and that word has been used in the past offensively, and is still being used offensively by some on here.
And those who think it's an example of tolerance for them to campaign against the offensiveness of the word, and for people to be allowed to continuing using that word offensively.
And the OP of this thread has previously demonstrated his willingness to use racist words.
I bet they also got their knickers in a twist about an emblem of jam.
Times change, awareness of what is offensive and why increases, but some desperately want to cling to their ability to be offensive. They complain about intolerance, but that is exactly what they display: an intolerance to a name change, FFS!
Will it change their lives, will it affect the sweets in the packet, will it affect them in a possible way? I suspect not. But it will affect others beneficially. But they don't want that. Even though it has absolutely no effect on them, they want avoid making someone else's life better.

If you actually look at the origin of the word it was a term conjured to recognise those that can mix with high society. It was to describe those with proportional limbs to there size.

I'm with motorbiking, I'm more than happy to call those who have dwarfism a dwarf or little person/people, and not midget.

My point of this thread is that midget has changed its meaning over time to also mean objects that are small.

I don't think it needs to be wiped from society and "cancelled" more just don't use it to describe a particular group of people as requested.
