Radiowaves don't work in a vacuum

Sound waves don't transmit in a vacuum, but electromagnetic radiation does.

Electromagnetic radiation includes radio waves, microwaves, television waves, light, X-rays etc.

So a radio would be able to pick up a signal in space, but you wouldn't be able to hear it unless the radio speaker was in an area of enclosed air, e.g an astronaut's helmet.

For the optimum performance the space between the cathode and the anode should be a vacuum. If there are any gas molecules in the space in which the electrons travel, collisions will occur and this will impede the flow of electrons.

You can infer or in you opinon say the screen(????) produces anything you like, even sausages. But in FACT all the valve does is produce electrons from the cathode and if they were noisey little things you wouldn't be able to hear them anyway because they are in a vacuum.

Both are correct, sound/radiowaves, distort the air around them, to produce a sound. There is no air in space, it's a vacuum. Sound doesn't exist. Remember the quote 'Nobody heard you scream in space' ?
