Zion and the Art of Armageddon

It seems a Palestinian Israeli, one of Filly's happy ones stabbed 2 IDF seriously. One managed to shoot him. His family has been locked up and house demolished.

More of a rumour? Israeli security thinks that actions in Gaza and the West Bank are no longer tenable. Lebanon mentioned but sounded more they'll stop if there is a ceasefire. Murmurs they they will not get rid of Hamas. That's not new really, usually you can't kill an idea but they are clearly having problems wiping out those that fight. Maybe repeat heavier actions with troops in various places will fix this eventually.

It also seems that Israel is allowing a Palestinian company to reconnect electricity to a central desalination plant. Using Hamas! An Israeli pundits sees this in a odd way. It indicates that at some point they will negotiate with Hamas. First step in a process to get the public to accept this. Big PASS from me.

Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in more than three decades, according to a report released by an Israeli anti-settlement watchdog, a move that will exacerbate the escalating tensions surrounding the conflict in Gaza. Peace Now said authorities recently approved the appropriation of 12.7 sq km (nearly 5 sq miles) of land in the Jordan valley, indicating it was “the largest single appropriation approved since the 1993 Oslo accords”, referring to the start of the peace process. Settlement monitors say the recent land acquisition links Israeli settlements along a crucial corridor adjacent to Jordan, a development they say threatens the formation of a future Palestinian state.

While Netanyahu 'consider's the latest peace proposal from Hamas, his minions are keeping busy taking even more land from the Palestinians. Hamas are facing growing unrest from the people of Gaza who're close to breaking point: gangs are settling scores in the camps as food and water become more scarce.

I believe the US are bringing pressure to bear on them over this.

Actually Israel is intending to add 5 new large settlements. There is also a lot of fast tracked general building probably expansions. And slung the PLA out of one of their areas that contains a lot of Palestinians.

But Benjamin et al still making the same noises. This is likely to prevent any deal.

HAMAS critisism from Gazans. The one I heard was keeping hostages in highly populated areas. But as has been mentioned civilisation has virtually broken down - as would be expected.
