First rule of politics

“the ability to count”

I can understand that. You like the headlines, not the details.

Oh I like details well enough, I like the detail that 149,000 is the highest number of police on record, I like the detail that it's a higher number than the 140,000 you inferred.

20,000 xtra pigs
I always find that those that refer to the police as 'pigs', squeal the loudest for them to do something when their house gets burgled, their car gets stolen or vandalised or a member of their family gets assaulted or worse. On those occasions, they are straight on to them.

Just the headlines then! No comments about the real details. What about the figures for the previous 10 years? 2012 to 2022 ? What about the level of experience now ? What about the expected numbers to leave from this last increase?

But I agree it's great that numbers are high. But they are only slightly higher than 143000 in 2010. Let's not get carried away by an acceptance that we need to get back to the fact that if the numbers are needed now, why weren't they needed for the last 10 years

Your a sexist body shaming pig .
That sentiment is possibly why the rules were changed on height and basic fitness, and how she got appointed, but sitting in an office or in a panda car can do that too. Same applies to blokes though.

Blup

we don't need more police officers, we just need to give the ones we have a big stick and full anonymity

and a long stick with a pointy end for the border force

Reads to me by the use of the term they he has someone else in mind who lets them off.

I'm sure on a tv prog years back I saw a politician (can't recall which party) say that moving forward we'll need less public facing police as the ways in which crime is committed was changing e.g. cyber criminals etc. I've heard the same said more recently re troops, less boots on the ground required because the way wars are fought is changing. Whilst there are obviously threads of truth in this, You'll never convince me we should have less public facing police and front line troops. No doubt just waffle to excuse the cuts they make.

Kidding.

My mate who's a sergeant keeps himself fit. They all should do really.

I wanted to join but was to small. + I would possibly have been to aggressive. Otherwise I think I would have been a good fair cop.

A lot more crime is digital now and your avg. plod, simply isn't up to the job. It's not about numbers it's about an effective police force.
So many ways to making policing more effective.
