Anyone got any evidence for a god?

Are you stuck on a verse dan.

i am not a bible scholler, but if i can help i will.
Can you explain why the bible encourages slavery, murder, corporal punishment, capital punishment, subjugation of women, stoning to death of women, adultery, racism, paedophilia, mass slaughter of people and animals, incest, etc? Do you believe the bible is justified on these things?

That's the old testament. I'm talking about the new testament. I find it very difficult to understand how religious followers so easily ignore these less palatable parts of the bible. If you accept, and quote, the bible as the truth - the word of god - then surely it must all be the word of god. Can you not see how cherry picking the nice bits discredits your argument.
I note this is ignored again. Which just confirms that the bible doesn't hold up under scrutiny and your reliance on it is just empty blind faith with no foundation.

be more specific, might help, were does it condone such sin,in the new testament,
all unrightouseness is sin, were does it say sin is ok .
Come off it. You could almost stick a pin in it! God and Jesus were more than happy to see people drowned, cast into fires or have their hands cut off, eyes gauged out. Anybody that denied god would be horribly destroyed in many different ways. Entire populations were violently destroyed or tortured for eternity. If they weren't murdering people in large numbers they were crippling them, torturing them or having them eaten alive by animals and insects. Do you find any of these things reasonable.? No, thought not. The old testament was updated because it became an embarrassment and I predict the new one will get a makeover at some point as well.

Complete tosh from a heathen.

In reply to your comment Joe, if there was nothing and then something came along, which is more likely to appear out of thin air, a few rocks floating around the universe OR a supernatural, all powerful being who is capable of creating everything else?

Neither.

What other explanation is there? Either something was always there or it came from nothing.

That's the conundrum.

There's the answer Joe. All of the matter in the universe has always been there. Somehow the previous universe collapsed in on itself, before the big bang. Everything in that universe was compressed into a singularity, which then exploded, forming the present universe. This could have happened a lot of times, for all we know (or will never know) Nothing mysterious at all. No God needed . ;) ;)

it's the work of God that you are witnessing. How can you deny what you see?

I reckon the original bible actually started with those immortal words,,,,,, " Once upon a time." ;) ;) ;) ;)

(then the scribes thought "They'll never believe this." )

No. It refers to the big bang. In the beginning there was darkness.

I don't deny that I can look up at the night sky and see the universe in all it's wonder. I just cannot accept, that it was "created" by some mystical, all seeing, all knowing being.

But can you accept that it came from nothing?

An effect without a cause?

Science says that isn't possible.

all of above sounds like it is the work of the Devil, sure it is not from God.
God wouldn't ever wish upon his creation to do such heinous things.

I am surprised this is written in the old testament, where I even read about animal sacrifices, why should a God who religionist believed to have created the entire universe then requires men to sacrifice animals blood! sure it is men who justify these evil practices and use God's name as an excuse.

I have never stated that the universe came from nothing Joe (and well you know that) I've already stated my theory, which can neither be proved nor disproved) Something can never come from nothing (apart from a belief in God. That seems to be the only thing that can come from nothing) ;) ;)

In other words you believe in God but dare not call it by name.

Is that what your religion teaches you; when you run out of answers just insult them.

All these things are new testament, not old testament. The old testament was MUCH worse. If the bible is quoted as evidence of god - the word of god - then all these things must also be the word of god. So was god good or evil? Why do Christians insist that god is good when all the evidence is to the contrary?

In fact it's all nonsense. The reality is that these stories were collected together by ancient leaders as a tool to control the mass of simple, uneducated people. The evil, nasty bits were just commonplace at the time. Most people think the bible is a contemporary account of what happened 2000 years ago. This is not true at all. It is in fact a collection of stories assembled over a period of hundreds of years and was not started until hundreds of years after any of the events were supposed to have happened.

Read my post again Joe. I've said "Something cannot come from nothing". Therefore if God came from nothing, he doesn't exist.
Your putting words down I have never said (again aren't you?) ;) ;)

I agree. There must be a core to the universe and any other universe. Let's call it God eh?

There's a core in the Earth,, You wouldn't call that God would you?. If there's a core to the universe, then let's just call it the universe's core. Nothing mystical about it, nothing religious. ;) ;)
