Try as you might, you won't find numbers quite like anything as rapid as those recorded recently. And that is the crux and the whole point in a nutshell.

What do you mean? In all of recorded history there have never been any years worse than the last 18. Pick any of them and they're worse than any year before 2006. People have been trying the Northern passage for 500 years or more, we have good records of this.

You are experiencing forum rage - a bit like road rage. Have some herbal tea and calm yourself down. Then come back and tell me why arctic ice melting is so bad. The bit about in your own words is that most of the time people just google stuff and post it as a reply trying to look cleaver- when they just googled it.

It can only be a good thing.

Divert a large % of the melting ice to those countries suffering from a lack of water. An easy win right there.

But to be fair it is very small compared to the Greenland contribution or the Antarctic contribution. 270 Billion tons a year and 130 billion tons a year respectively on average. That's around 1/2 to 2/3 of all the additional water being added to the seas.
