Everyone on the planet knows he meant Nazis because they were the only ones in gov in Germany in the 30's.
It's remarkable how some dumb prize nobs open their silly waste-of-time nobrain gob to try to assert otherwise. Presumably they like being laughed at, but that's a fail too, they're unamusing irrelevant ditch-dwellers you don't normally see, because they crawl back to the underside of rocks. where they feed on effluent.
Emily Thorberry said precisely the same thing, almost exactly the same words.
That's the Attorney General who isn't a tory M .P., but the shadow Attorney General.
She said Lineker "went too far", but then she's daughter of a diplomat.

Ooh look, one of them has just stuck his head up to announce how dumb he is, bless, as if we didn't know.
Oh well, the world needs detritovores.

No that is not what the words meant.

Lineker used the words “language not dissimilar to 1930s Germany……”

he wasnt likening Conservatives to Nazis, he was stating there were similarities in the language used.

language has subtleties and nuance for a reason.

She mitigated Stanley Johnson's behaviour of breaking his wife's nose, by explaining that he only did it once.
As I said earlier, mitigation of offending only once can affect the penalty, not the morality of the offence.

She was an ambassodr for Refuge, which is a charity reprsenting abused women.

BBC have not spoken to her, despite numerous complaints about her comment.
That’s not what understand, she was stating the legal facts.

It was officialy known as the German Reich. The Nazi party, although the largest party were not in full control until about 1940 or even a bit later.

The war started 1939. Was the Nazis not in power before then?

Who did Chamberlain meet with?

We're the Nazis in power or just merely sponsors of the Games?

That's a hell of a lot of words to say that you didn't understand what Lineker actually wrote.

Let me remind you. "Language not dissimialar to.... "

Stop trying to conflate 2 different things.

CONFLATE oh the irony... ohhh the irony. Nothing at all related to what Lineker was attempting.

Listen, just add to the footer of your sig your affiliation and your supported political party. Oh no wait you've already made that clear right?

Except I don't have any political affiliation, I am 1 of those very few floating voters.

Able to look at them all, the good bits and the bad bits

"Claiming," surely.

A bit rash because AFAIK she had no way of knowing how many times he assaulted his wife.

People who know about these things tell me it tends to be a pattern of behaviour.

It is reported that she told a biographer it happened many times.

"Language not dissimilar to"... so it's similar to ? How much £ do we pay illiterate pundits ? ;)
