Brexit Negotiations proceeding, er...... well...... er....

John is correct - there has been no exit bill produced as yet.

From what I can gather JohnD was as astonished as anyone else when the RWR Daily Mailiens were claiming that, not only have the UK been hit with a bill, it has also doubled!

Most sensible people are waiting until there is an actual demand for money or a bill before criticising it.

I don't recall anyone saying there would not be a demand.

It's more than possible that Macron would go for a restrictions on the freedom of movement, and that could well be Blairs "source", but that doesn't mean the other mebers will. Blairs very likely floating the idea, hoping that it will be given credibility by the real senior EU members. But we have to remeber that he's about the biggest fantasist going.

I seem to recall you telling us that there was absolutely no demand for payments to leave the EU, not so long ago. Is this another change of mind?
Just go right ahead and show us that post Judith the Liar. Show me where I have changed my mind. Take your time.

There is no legal basis for a bill to leave, this has been established. We will be paying ~30bn during our notice period. The whole reason the EU negs are talking about the need to agree the principles of the exit settlement before post exit agreements can be made is exactly because there is no basis for an exit fee.

When considering our post-brexit terms, we must be careful not to agree to pay loads in for nearly EU membership, preventing us from doing our own thing with the rest of the world.

IMO you are in or out, if you plan to shake it all about you must be careful what you lose from both worlds. My biggest worry is that we end up with a half and half deal (which might seem the best of all worlds/appease both votes), but ends up restricting our ability to negotiation trade elsewhere, but allows the EU to pick over the UK economy gradually over time.

I'm not sure there is much legal basis for the EU as it stands, but that doesn't stop them demanding money in order to sign a deal that they think we want. If they hadn't been so arrogant with Cameron in refusing all his (half hearted) demands, then we wouldn't be in this mess now. From their past actions, I can't see them being reasonable in the forth coming negotiations.
