Trust me, you can get a court order to recover the goods. Conservatories don't tend to be kept inside anyway ;)

As for the stealing or not paying what owed argument. Where you came in on the discussion was me saying that Tax Evasion, which I agree is a crime and agree that is illegal, is a different crime to stealing and someone else saying it wasn't.

Now we go back to what is worse. The very fact that Tax Evaders are in most cases still giving back to the country rather than taking (just at a reduced rate) would put them head and shoulders above benefit fraudsters, who only take.

You can survive on benefits. You really can. You do not NEED to steal on top of it, so please stop with the bleeding heart crap. The fact is that these people are taking benefits AND then working, or are claiming for benefits they don't deserve. They normally have enough money to blow on fags and beer and generally have ok lives...after all they have benefits AND wages.

There is never an excuse for that.

As for people on benefits in general. As long as real effort is made to get off benefits I don't hold anything against them. It is there for a reason, as a safety net, and as long as it isn't a career choice I have no problem with it.

Seems to me most people in general have no idea what there talking about on this subject !. Always remember this never call a man untill you have walked a mile in his shoes !

Also when does somebody become a scrounger ? my mate was made redundent yesterday after working 25 years since school ,hes just made a new claim today for jobseekers allowance so is he a scrounger ?

And what right does a politican ,or anybody else thats never been on benefits have in calling them ? just remember this one day your safe secure job ,lifestyle may be gone ? so you too could easily be called a scrounger !

skitzee2k,

Your signature shows a certain lack of understanding, no one spends their whole life on benefits.

Some may spend a considerable part of it on benefits, but the chap born with no arms or legs is unlikely ever to find employment.

You would be better having a signature directed at the vermin who spend most of their adult life in jail, individually they take more money out of the system than an unemployed/unemployable person.

You can survive on a million pounds a year. You really can. You don't NEED to swindle the country by fraudulently evading your tax. So please stop this indulgent let 'em get away with it crap.

Now we go back to what is worse. The very fact that Tax Evaders have heaps of money, and by fraud are illegally refusing to pay their share, while availing themselves of all the benefits of living in a decent country with a rule of law, clean air and water, an educated workforce, and mainly honest and reliable institutions, shows that they are unscrupulous swindlers and parasites, who swindle the rest of us out of fifteen billions pounds a year.

I wonder why you are so soft on rich crooks and swindlers?

I haven’t said this yet but my sister has worked for the Job Centre, or Unemployment Office as it was known, for over 30 years. With respect to all here, she has probably forgotten more about this subject than anyone here is likely to know and interviews people all the time who earnestly and desperately want to work.

When she calculates what the job pays and takes their bills into account she often comes to the very same conclusion as the job seeker – it isn’t worth doing the job! So she ends up putting them on course, and another, and another…

Some people need to get out of their ivory tower and remove the blinkers.

I know 2 guys who claim invalidity benefit and get £400 a week plus rent etc paid - all they do is drink and gamble

on the other hand

my sister is on jobseekers and hasn't worked since our mum passed away, she got a pitttance as my mums legal carer and now is struggling to find work, she has done IT, First Aid and Food Hygiene courses and in past 18 months had 3 interviews, she applies for at least 10 jobs as week.

She has been told she is being sent out to work now for £15 on top of her benefits. If the job is there let her do it for a proper wage instead of £60 a week.

My family have never claimed until now mum/dad worked from 15 til retirement, 4 kids all in 50s/40s worked since 16 until present day apart from when my sister looked after our mum, paid all our taxes, NI contributions

makes me sick

I know this will be hard to enforce, if you're £500 per week benefit and a £100 a week job is available, they should be force to take the job if they make no effect to find a job even the pay is less than the benefit so the benefit can make up the shortfall to top up to £500 saving taxpayers money

hmmm, no harm in dreaming!

We could add a few more tax evaders

I repeat, no you don't. You don't even know what the name of the benefit they are claiming is called.

You reckon between them they get £800 + ?

I'll get the skinny from my sis later. Back tomorrow with the facts...

hes just made a new claim today for jobseekers allowance so is he a scrounger ? !
...erm, no. Course not :?:

@JohnD No where have I ever suggested that we should be soft on criminals. I have asked for relative perspective. I have also pointed out in depth the last time you started talking about this being 'soft' on tax evader crap that I am not.

If I say that Murder is a more serious crime than theft does that mean I am soft on theft? Get a clue will you.

@Big Tone,
It isn't worth them doing the job? Do they make a heavy loss? If not, than common decency means that it is worth them doing the job.

if you add up incapacity benefit plus DLA (middle rate) mobility allowance (lower rate) severe disability allowance, plus housing benefit plus council tax benefit, plus free bus pass (NOW card) plus free prescriptions..it does add up to approx £400 per week....

most of the people i work with get this amount of money, which is more than I earn ....but i wouldnt swap my life for theirs!....
