It's an interesting point that when you sign a trade treaty with somebody, both will be trying to write it to suit themselves.

If the UK had a treaty with Trumpville, do you suppose that a huge dominant country like America would accommodate itself to a minor nation? The UK trades more with little Ireland than it does with the US. The US trade negotiators' approach to foreigners is to fax their terms over, and tell them to sign.

What a shame that there is no nearby market, the world's biggest, that the UK could be a member of, and help to write the rules as a leading and large participant. Oh yes. Sorry. There is.
