Climate change.

Well why is the climate changing then?

But is it??
The earth is a huge place - you can't expect everything to stay the same, all the time.
The climate was changing long before man appeared.
We've had 'tipping points' and 'J-curves' and 'carbon footprints' rammed down our throats by everyone from Prince Charles down and it's getting boring.

So what you're saying is we can burn every last drop of oil, burn every chunk of coal, chop down every last tree and burn all the gas since the dinosaurs and it will have no effect?

On a separate note try being a farmer for a decade or two and you will learn all about climate change and won't be so dismissive.
Especially when the crop you're relying on is laying in the field rotting.

Well?
Can I get my chainsaw out and start cutting down the tree's?

You would think to listen to some posters on this forum there is an infinite abundance of fuel on this planet that will last forever.

But is the ice cap melting?

But is the ice at the south pole melting?
In any case, if the ice at the north pole disappered completely, there would be advantages for shipping and trade. There may also be reserves of oil and gas which would become extractable.
Even if the climate was changing (which long-term is not proved), man will not stand by wringing his hands wondering what to do. Changes will also bring new opportunities. Man is a resourceful animal and we should not patronise future generations; their needs and aspirations wil be different from ours.

Well what's causing it to melt then? Statistics?

Thousands of years ago, when Britain was covered in ice, what caused THAT to disappear? Did the wooly mammoths start burning fossil fuels?

A volcanic eruption. Saw a proggie about it awhile back.

Even if the climate was changing

But it is changing.

But it always has changed since the dawn of time. We can't expect it to remain as it was at some arbitrary point in time.
The question is; is man's activity CAUSING this change?
I suggest not, and my opinion is no worse or better than anyone else's. And that's all the scientists are dishing up - opinions masquerading as objective research.

As Sherlock Holmes used to say:

Eliminate the impossible, and whatever remains, however improbable - must be the truth. Well scientists have done that - and after eliminating the impossible - only man-made activity remains.

I don't understand why a man of science like yourself seems to think it's OK to say the earth is warming by magic. Why DO you say that?

One minute you say its not changing and now you say it is changing.

Back to my question again which you avoided answering before.

Can you answer it? (He won't)

OK, when I moved into my house, the decor was so appalling that it could not possibly have been done by a human being; therefore it must have been done by a horse.

Yup. If you did your research correctly it must have been.

Look - face facts. So-called man-made climate change is a myth.
It's just one of the myriad of imaginary worries that man as a species has to keep dreaming up.

What's causing it then? Help us eliminate the impossible. You don't know do you? Earth wobble? Volcanic activity? Sunspots? Solar flares? Nope - all eliminated. It's man's activity - get over it and stop jumping on dopey bandwagons.

Will it have an effect or not?

Can you answer the question? (He won't)

It's probaby caused by the same factors which caused the ice to melt at the end of the several ice ages we have had. And there weren't many fossil-fuel power stations around then.
What actually caused the ice to retreat I wouldn't know. It could have been sun-spots, solar flares , meteorites or flying saucers for all I know. What I do know is that the ice-age ending was not caused by man.
