Climate change.

So have the poles stopped melting and started refreezing? If not - you need to stop reading statistics.

No-one can really say for sure what may be causing the polar ice to melt. If you say that the scientists have ruled out every possible cause excepts man pumping out CO2, then how would they explain why the ice melted at the end of the last ice age?

Volcanic activity producing greenhouse gases. Just like what is happening today only it was natural. As the ice melted less heat was reflected back into the atmosphere - just like it is happening today.

Stop jumping on bandwagons and actually think about it.

I see you are thinking. That's a start.

Look - face facts. So-called man-made climate change is a myth.
It's just one of the myriad of imaginary worries that man as a species has to keep dreaming up.

So what you're saying is we can burn every last drop of oil, burn every chunk of coal, chop down every last tree and burn all the gas since the dinosaurs and it will have no effect?

Will it have an effect or not?

Can you answer the question? (He won't)
You seem convinced that CO2 is culprit. How do you explain the fact that whilst CO2 has risen dramatically over the last 13 years temperature rise has been flat and actually has slightly dipped? Climate scientists have been a bit panicky about it for a year or two now and were pinning their hopes on a reversal. But the May figures are in now and the dip continues, which was a b*****r. Any ideas?

Chinese sulphur emissions are masking it.
They form an aerosol and help clouds form, thus increasing the amount of solar radiation that is reflected away from Earth. Thus, they contribute to a cooling trend.

So basically what's happening right now is that one type of emission is partially counteracting the effects of another type.

We've eliminated the impossible - only man made activity remains.

You stated quite clearly in an earlier post that it was caused by the Earth's wobble. Changed yer mind again Joe. You really are a changeable bu&&er. What's next Joe? Blame it on the amount of mobile phones being used?

Are you just plain thick or what? The wobble is a known constant. It's what ELSE is going on that matters. FFS.

Don't be taken in by this. It's a ruse by the climatologists to make excuses when the data doesn't support their argument.
In effect, when they say average temperatures are going up - but in reality they are not - they concoct some excuse. They say temperatures would be
going up if it wasn't for all the cows farting/patio heaters/odours from Indian takeaways or whatever.

It's been a scorcher here today.

That'll be the global warming, I suppose.

No - it's just a typical British summer. The odd heatwave for a few days, which will be followed by cooler, cloudy conditions and drizzle.

Also combined with the sulphur emissions is the sun entering a less intense part of its 11-year cycle and the peaking of the El Niño climate warming phenomenon.

The cooling effect of sulphur pollution on climate has long been recognised by scientists studying volcanic eruptions, which have, for example, caused failed crops and famines in the past. Sulphur dioxide forms droplets of sulphuric acid in the stratosphere, which increases the reflection of the Sun's heat back to space, cooling the Earth's surface.

The effect also explains the lack of global temperature rise seen between 1940 and 1970: the effect of the sulphur emissions from increased coal burning outpaced that of carbon emissions, until acid rain controls were introduced, after which temperature rose quickly. Some have even proposed sulphur dioxide could used to geoengineer the planet by deliberately injecting millions of tonnes into the atmosphere to combat warming.

Why don't you just admit norcon? You haven't got a clue, just like joe and the rest of us.
