You're right, I know it's a waste of time trying to reason with bigots. I said the same to billynick, but what the hell.

I did say earlier , that I would bow out of this thread, so forgive me for joining back in.. No matter how many people (in authority) apologise for what happened 23 yrs ago, It just simply isn't going to bring anyone back. OK the police made the fateful decision to open "Gate C" (which led to the tragedy) ,,, However, had they not made the decision to open the gate, I'm sure many fans would have been crushed outside of the ground. They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't.
OK, it's reprehensible that the police altered records and blamed the Liverpool fans, totally for what happened, but this is all with hindsight (which is a great thing) . With hindsight , we can stop things happening, But us humans are not blessed with the power of hindsight. All we can do is move on, and accept things that have happened in the past
It's no good looking back and saying "What if."
As I see it, South Yorkshire Police, and people who weren't even elected MP's(at the time) have apologised. I have yet to hear an apology from any "Fan" who was in the ground that day, who pressed forward, helping to crush those 96 people who died. Until those people accept their part (however small) in the events that unfolded that day, I will not accept that South Yorkshire Police, were solely to blame.

They weren't

Sheff Wednesday were to blame for not spending money to make the ground safer.
The local council were to blame for not making them.
The FA were to blame for playing a semi at a ground which was known to be unsafe.

It's never our fault, it's never our fault. Always the victims, it's never our fault. Isn't that how it goes.

Some people are also blaming the Emergency Services that day.

Isn't this what All Liverpool fans, are saying? Let those who were at the back of the queue, that day, stand up and raise their hands... (they won't) .

If by some people you mean the Hillsborough independent panel, backed up by solid documentary evidence, I agree.

Let those who were at the back of the queue, that day, stand up and raise their hands... (they won't) .
You keep repeating that irrelevant point. You obviously haven't read or digested the real reasons behind this disaster.
We've already gone over and over this conversation, during which you have made some particularly stupid posts, I can't really be bothered doing it again with you. Is this groundhog day?

Sooey, the only real reason behind the Hillsborough Disaster, was the amount of Liverpool fans trying to get into the ground. Your blinded by loyalty to LFC and the memory of the 96. You cannot see reason. If so many fans, hadn't piled into the stadium that day at 3 o clock, nothing would have happened. As I have said before, the police were damned if the did, damned if they didn't.
With hindsight ,,, What if, they'd refused to open Gate C and fans had been crushed outside? Would the fans still be crying out for for yet another inquest, asking why SYP hadn't opened the gate to relieve the pressure of those outside?

You can add that to your list of stupid posts.

Are the families of the victims also blinded by loyalty to LFC? They don't blame the fans, can they not see reason?

If they hadn't opened the gate and fans were crushed outside people would rightly want to know why that situation was allowed to develop. See billynick's posts for an explanation, you obviously need one.
Your use of the words "crying out for for yet another inquest" in relation to that point leads me to believe that you don't think another one is necessary even now, is that correct?

Its a real shame the way this thread has gone, i joined it to give my opinion as i was in the leppings lane end in 81, and i know how close i was to being a victim of an establishment that honestly didn't give two hoots about football fans.
I tried to explain what it was like back in the day, but some posters on here have an anti scouse agenda comewhat may. But listen lads Maggie Thatcher would be proud of this thread, you know why? divied and rule, get the working class people at each others throats and she will be happy as larry. I'm real sorry for pulling peter's leg, but i just can't be nasty to people, i try with humour but in all honesty i feel guilty.

In all honesty i shouldn't be posting after a night on the sause but hey lets get things right here.

50,000 plus working class lads went to watch their teams play in a FA cup semi, each and every one of them excited about the prospect of their team winning. And what happened that day was just beyound the pale. Any decent football fan can see that surely, its just beyond rivalries. I'm a north london lad born and bred, and let me tell you i hate arsenal with my dying breath, But if it was 96 arsenal fans that died that day i would still be on here defending their right to justice.

This really isn't about scousers or mancs or cockneys or geordies, its about the authorities taking the lives of 96 innocent football fans, and covering it up right in front of the world, they thought they could do that becauce we are all devided. Together we could stand up and get a result for the victims, but those in power know well we will chew each others heads off rather than stand together.

Come on lads lets show the corrupt bastards that make our lives a misery every day that we are better than them. If we can't fight together than we are destined to fail comewhat may.

Its time to stand up and be counted.

Justice for the 96

You lot ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
This started out as a serious thread about the deaths of 96 innocent football fans and as per usual it turns into a personal slanging match.

You make me sick!
Agreed Joe. Its time this was locked and the mods get their act together and start moderating.

You are right conny......I am not a Liverpool supporter and live in yorkshire but the reason it is close to my heart is a very good friend of mine was there and it changed him and on top came the smear campaign that was unfolded 23 years later, myself and the authoritys and lots of guys on here know the truth but other people on here wont and never will accept it, I am ashamed that I have stooped to their level , I tried to give a fair and balanced view and even posted links for them to read but it still would not work and then I found myself calling them names....something I have never done since school....anyhow no more postings from me as a mark of respect, good luck to the other guys trying to educate the bigots.

Just one further question for you to answer sooey... Can you explain to the world, how thousands of people pushing forward, is IRRELEVANT to the Hillsborough Disaster ? Had they not pushed forward, do you think 96 people would have lost their lives that day?

On A lighter note - good result for Mancs today- :) . At least everyone behaved themselves and showed respect.
Let the fellowship of peace persevere .
Lets see what papers tomorow say ?
