According to a pest controller there three primary types of poison.
1) anti-coagulents (such as Warfarin) which result in bleeding to death internally
2) gluten based poisons which create fatal de-hydration by affecting the digestive system in a way that prevents the mouse's intestines absorbing water. ( or it subdues the mouse's desire to drink )
3) diuretics that stimulate the mouse's kidneys to produce excessive urine thus dehydrating the mouse.
