Dangerous?

Yes but try to make it clearer. It wasn't all that easy to work out what might be "backwards" from the prv connection in the last one.
Use a better camera too!
Then something like Photoshop can be used to put light into the murky depths afterwards so you can see what's what.

the image quality seems to be lost when i attach to forum....

So I take it to building control... and let them handle it?.

If it's a Company or you know names it maybe a good idea to post them.

Your mate is seriously lucky to get away without a major incident.

Forun does cut it down but it helps if it's sharper in the first place.
You can put big pics free on imageshack. Also Photobucket but not quite SO big.

Is it ok to name names?...

to be honest I'm reluctant to at the moment to name names, I dont want people calling him and creating before I've taken action against him.

But believe me I have decided they are not getting away with this one, the more I understand the worse in severity it appears!

edit:
might sound strange but found it difficult to ask for corgi badge... is there anyway i can find out without the number?

No names...have a word with your local HSE/LBCO and email them the images...you could always link to these postings :) to give 'em a little help.

Snot all over the pipework says it all

If you know names enter them into the Corgi web site, it will soon tell you.

Perhaps the bossman is sound, we shall see if he inspects the alterations.

At least you now have an outlet to complain too.

Called lee today to see what the installer did...

Hes fitted a bypass and altered the filler loop, exactly what hes done I dont know.

But... the 'boss' told lee "Its not as bad as that guys making out" meaning me!

anyway I've told lee to refuse final payment until the installation is checked by local council.
They will be getting to see the photos of original installation.

edit:
Just to clarify... I'm pretty sure they will have just moved the filler loop...
where exactly shoud the following components be located:

filler loop
Blow off
expansion..

if you could confirm, that would be great... in the manual it shows blow off on flow and filler on flow.... but does this have any ill effects on the return?

also, is it ok to have that many elbows on the flue/?? ... it could have been easily done with one.

Absolutely yes, and it has to be a 1"/28mm one not one or two 3/4"/22mm ones

A 28mm by pass valve?.

22mm is the largest I have seen recommended on domestic systems. Also if you are using an AVDO ( straight pattern) the carrying capacity increases with linear changes in water throughput for relatively small increases in differential pressure. This allows a 15mm valve to be used where 22mm valves are normally used !.

C55s are very good at distorting their combustion chambers , which writes off the boiler, if they overheat on overrun.

I would suggest thats not the fault of an undersized by-pass valve but rather inadequate heat dissipation through the system pipework.

A 3bar safety valve (PRV) must be fitted on the flow.

The expansion vessel must be fitted on the return, which can include the pressure gauge.

One other major consideration while I'm in a thinking mood

A by-pass must be fitted, 22mm or preferable 28mm.

What size is the gas pipe.
What size is the meter.
And what other appliances are installed.

The reason I ask is that a standard U6 domestic meter would be too small

thanks m8...

gas pipe is all new straight from meter, cooking appliances are electric looks like old gas pipe was all chopped off.

the meter looks like a standard meter, only been fitted about 6months...

Ok, so how long is the run and the number of bends, and finally what size pipe.

I applaud you for trying to help your colleague but there are many other considerations to take into account when deciding if this installation is safe. Since the installation cowboys have made such fundamental errors you can't have any confidence in their abilities to correct the faults.

The boiler manufacturers instructions only tell you half the story...there's a raft of other regulations to comply with.

Since Lee will not do the sensible thing and have the lot inspected I advise you to give up....he's a lost cause, otherwise it will all come back to you...end of friendship.

You learn in this game that some people are a waste of space....and no amount of persuasion will convince them...so bale out now.
