Should we bring back the death penalty

Deterrent, or not, it matters not at all. Point is, we don't have the 'pleasure' of keeping them for years at public expense, nor the risk if and when they are eventually let out..
You still haven't explained the cost and duration of the average death row prisoner. You seem unwilling to justify your support of the death penalty. Is it because you are clueless or afraid to look at the facts?

Otherwise, I think the reintroduction of the Death Penalty wouldn't necessarily stop the severely unhinged committing murder, albeit it may help some think twice, nor will it necessarily unburden the British tax payer if the good old USofA are used a benchmark, one inmate has been on Death Row for 22 years "according to a quick Google search".

Asking - Are the long periods on death row, due to multiple appeals causing stays of execution. Before an appeal will be entertained in the UK, good grounds/new evidence needs to be found before an appeal will be permitted. If the case is cut and dried, there can be no reason for an appeal.

Nor that, threatened with long prison terms / death penalty, criminals increasingly opted to "leave no witnesses" i.e. become more likely to commit murder.

So just to
Clarify how is the cost of keeping a prisoner on death row ?? Different to not keeping the same prisoner not being kept on death row ?

But he had turned his back by the time it veers over the central line and accelerates towards him. The 25-year-old is thrown on to the bonnet; the car then disappears off-screen.

In a split second the horrifying details of Lee Rigby's death were revealed at the Old Bailey yesterday, leaving the courtroom in silence.

The car was just the beginning. Like a "butcher attacking a joint of meat", Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, then set about the unconscious man with a cleaver and knives in a "serious and almost successful" attempt to saw off his head, Richard Whittam QC, prosecuting, told the jury.

The attack is hidden from the sight of the camera fixed to the outside of a shop. But two small figures soon come back into shot, dragging the body of the dead 25-year-old into the road where he is dumped as a double-decker bus drives past. "They wanted the members of the public present to see the consequence of what can only be described as their barbarous acts," said Mr Whittam. "

NO DOUBT HERE IS THERE

No, you need to think a step further.

WHO decides it is clear cut. You, me, an other (could be of any background don't forget), judge, group of judges, jury, local council, home secretary. other?

It is easy to say "clear cut". It isn't easy to legally decide that. it's just a slogan.

Nonsense

Total / utter nonsense :giggle:

If by clear cut we are talking about those murders actually caught on film or video with a clear enough image to see exactly what is going on, then there won't be many cases.

in todays world it will be an every increasing one though even with people catching it on phones instead of helping

So are you disappointed than ???
No, assassinations in democracies generally have unintended consequences and it could have sparked widespread civil unrest or worse. But if he had succeeded the republicans would only have had themselves to blame for allowing, encouraging and praising laws which allow mentally ill young men to buy guns without checks. The right to bare arms should extend no further than t shirts IMO.

What I cannot understand is why people who cannot see beyond their noses and just want to stir the wotsit only EVER blame brexit.
Brexhit shifted this country far to the right. It's exactly why lawyers addresses are being posted on the internet to be attacked. The right wing media and farrage bear a huge and direct responsibility for what is happening.
Yes brexit was squandered but that was because we have had 15 years of rubbish who had the audacity to call themselves a government.
That makes no sense unless you are a no dealer.
This lot are no better. The last lot also let in at least 750,000 (probably a hell of a lot more now) immigrants a significant number of whom are illegally in this country without anything being done about it and this lot of scroungers who call themselves a government will quite possibly let in a load more. All using our meagre resources and preventing legal taxpayers from using what they pay for.
How do you suggest controlling immigration, even reform recognise the economic need for it

Who amongst would suggest any of the following had a right to have a continuing life, in prison, based on the chances of their having been innocent of the murders?

Lee Rigby, carved up.

Serial killer, the Yorkshire Ripper.

The Moors murderers.

There are numerous other examples, where guilt is absolutely 'cut and dried'.
