My guess is that it's a bit of wishful thinking, not a proposed policy. Not yet, anyway.Even a small car weighs more than 500Kg, where have you read that?

The problem is that that policy would scoop up virtually everything in its net. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/topten/top-10-lightest-cars/Any vehicle that has a kerb weight of greater than 500kg declared as special type, requires tachograph and limited to 40mph.
Giant SUVs will soon loose their popularity
It's not my wishful thinking! I was just commenting on munroist's post, which I assume was tongue-in-cheek.The point is that your wishful thinking would scoop up virtually everything in its net. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/topten/top-10-lightest-cars/
Your principle may be valid, but you need to work on the detail.
And the detail would need some kind of "historic vehicle" concept.
Indeed - apologies for missing that. It's not my wishful thinking! I was just commenting on munroist's post, which I assume was tongue-in-cheek.
Safety which is bought at the expense of reduced safety for others.
it was and it wasn't - something needs to be done to stop the arms race. It's not my wishful thinking! I was just commenting on munroist's post, which I assume was tongue-in-cheek.
You really are a sad and inadequate little liar.Bobby Necrosis or whatever your name is this week
Surely it already is.then make anything bigger a very onerous thing to own and operate,
not at all, most people own cars that are unnecessarily too big and powerful for what they truly need.Surely it already is.
But it doesn't seem to reduce the popularity of big cars, SUVs, 4 x 4s etc...and it costs them more.
People are prepared to pay for higher running costs in order to drive a car which is deliberately oversized so that it does more damage to other cars in accidents....and it costs them more.

lets agree on what would be a small car for personal transport, then make anything bigger a very onerous thing to own and operate, we need to break the very strange relationship that we have with the car.
Idiot.People are prepared to pay for higher running costs in order to drive a car which is deliberately oversized so that it does more damage to other cars in accidents.
