Farage

This country is getting worryingly Orwellian. Some of those who preach freedom are actually the most oppressive in history.
So, it turns out that his account at Couts was closed as he didn't have enough funds to qualify and he was offered a NatWest account instead like us little people.

Poor Farage, he must be suffering if his current account has dropped below £3,000,000

Boris was fooked no matter who looked at the evidence. Even ReeSmogg would have struggled to exonerate the lying idiot.
What does that prove? I doubt that anyone is seriously saying that Boris was a great guy.

You're mistaken in thinking that everyone is either Pro-Boris and Anti-Gray or vice versa. Most people are not as simple to categorise as your simple logic would imply.

If she's going to lead an inquiry into possibly the most senior person in the country then she has to behave herself. I don't know whether she has or hasn't broken any rules, but if she has then she's rightly going to have to deal with it and can't just treat it as a minor transgression that doesn't really matter - this is exactly the card that Boris was attempting to play.

Sorry if this point is too complicated for you, or doesn't fall neatly into your simple little world where everyone is either Labour or Tory. Some of us think for ourselves and don't just chant for one mob or the other.

We'll find out in time, but that excuse sounds like frantic back-pedalling by the Natwest/Coutts PR department, now that they've realised they've messed up big time.

If this was the reason then why didn't they tell him this when he asked?

I smell BS.

Even he admits he was told last year.

He wouldn't just be looking for sympathetic headlines, would he ? The rules on the holding of an account at Coutts, is quite clear.

He's got his lawyers involved so perhaps the bank hasn't got all it's ducks in a row to avoid any come backs.

I think it was the day after the story broke, I saw Nigel talking about it, can't recall the tv prog, was maybe even a GB News clip on YT. Anyways, he mentioned the bank did contact him after the story kind of went viral, offering him a personal account but reiterating the business account option wasn't available to him. As he felt the personal account was no use to him, he declined.

Did he not also say that he didn't actually qualify under their rules for continuing to hold an account?

and that it only offered him a personal account, not a business account.
"Well what use to me is that?" he told the BBC. "I operate through a business, that's how I live. Any income that comes to me personally comes through my business."

yes I said that in my post ;)

tbh I can't recall why he said the personal account would be of no use to him.

I don't have much time for him, however unless he's been doing something illegal, I feel very uneasy about his accounts being withdrawn this way.

EDIT: according to DM article, he's been blocked by 9 other banks for his political views.

Don't let the headlines fool you.

He was told in advance his accounts would be closed because he did not qualify for them. A fact he acknowledged.

Whether other banks have stopped hom holding an account I don't know. But this story is just looking for sympathetic headlines

That Boris is a proven untrustworthy liar.
Errr yes, and I doubt that anyone is going to argue otherwise.

Sorry if it's too complicated for you, but this doesn't mean that I therefore will be completely happy with Gray doing whatever she likes and ignoring whatever rules apply to her.

Some of us actually think and don't just chant for the red or blue team.
