G20 Demonstrations

So the punishment for "dawdling" and "walking slowly with your hands in your pockets" is now what?

Did this law go through parliament, or was it just made up by some bad-tempered violent thug who happens to be in uniform?

Having said all of the above. Surely the police could have another method in their bag of tricks of dealing with one such person that does not involve quite such a level of force.
Nah its a lot easier when you have a nice big stick in your hand and a dozons of your mates standing next to ya...

Another Darwin Contender :?:

C'Mon.... You can blame them for giving him a whack. :!:

No punishment for this and it's really not the point. There is a time and place for everything. For example in 99.999% of situations its fine but at other times that person needs removing fast e.g. if doing it in the fast lane of the motorway (or if doing it in front of a line of police trying to prevent a riot and the subsequent damage to property or people). There's nothing wrong with many things but there are innappropriate times to be doing them (e.g. taking your clothes off is not a problem until it's done at the wrong time or place).

I agree that the force used needs to be looked into. My point was to question why he might be "dawdling" and "walking slowly with his hands in his pockets" whilst in the way of a moving row of police and dogs trying to move along the street. In certain situations police should be obeyed and obeyed swiftly. I'd have been away from that row of police with some haste - as everybody else was.

Probably one too many sherberts he has been descibed as an alchoholic.

I walk slowly because I have leg injuries

so you think I can expect to be whacked by some fat thug of a policeman who's put on a balaclave to hide his face, and removed the numbers from his uniform.

Ok, so it's not the paper I normally frequent, but, what a surprise, here's Mr T in photos, being a pain an hour or so before...

If this man was just walking home why was he confronting officers in this manner, if I was walking home and came across a line of police in riot gear I think I would turn and find another route. Being pushed to the ground and struck with a baton, does that constitute manslaughter ?

One thing that we will never know is if the pushing over caused the heart attack that killed him. Many people were pushed and struck by officers that day, are we going after all of them ?

Most people who demonstrated on that day wanted a peaceful protest but with all the high profile demos rent a mob turn up and spoil the day.

If the circumstances were reversed and a demonstrator had pushed a copper over would we have the same sympathy, would there be the outrage or would it be accepted as a risk of being a police officer.

No...the fella had just finished work actually

He probably got the bonus dog from the cowardly cozzer because he was a Millwall supporter as well...so in the cozzers eyes he had it coming to him anyway.

And I still cant work out why the heavy mob are allowed to conceal there faces..well apart from hiding the smiles when they are dishing it out.

They had to take a firm stance with the soap dodgers and the rent a riot brigade..but this guy didnt deserve what he got.

He probably got no worse treatment than a lot of miscreants - real or imagined - did that day, he just had the misfortune to keel over and peg it three minutes later.

He liked his pop and didn't look to be the most healthy of individuals.

And he was annoying them an hour or so before. Seems he was not merely an innocent making his way home as was first kicked about.

Think the outrage bus needs to pull over to the side of the road, until more things come to light over this.

Never takes the security services long to besmirch their victims in an attempt to justify their actions.

The press office gets to work even before the facts are known  claiming their victim is a know criminal etc, then we find out they're not.

so if you're a tiresome drunk, staggering or dawdling about on the pavement or public road, the police are allowed to fatally assault you?

since when?

When they are trying to contain a demo and some muppet is being a twonk in front of them, has got up their noses already and is bimbling slowly quite deliberately in front of them, it shouldn't really come as a surprise to not be handled gently.

The assualt was not fatal either was it? He got a stick around his legs, per the usual sop and a shove. He wasn't beaten to death ffs .

Since you become a Millwall supporter!

Iliked the way the great unwashed tried to capitalise on the incident by putting up posters and note saying he was one of their 'brothers'...hes wife promptly took em down when she went to the place where he got done by the police.

The police have lied, the soap dodgers have lied and a innocent guy lost his life...

Ok so he didnt die because of the dig what he got and the shove in the back by the coward...but maybe it was enough to bring the heart attack on?
