G20 Demonstrations

...He liked his pop and didn't look to be the most healthy of individuals.

And he was annoying them an hour or so before. Seems he was not merely an innocent making his way home as was first kicked about....

so if you're a tiresome drunk, staggering or dawdling about on the pavement or public road, the police are allowed to fatally assault you?

since when?

Since when was it a fatal assault

Has his heart attack been directly linked with his treatment by the police ?

When they are trying to contain a demo and some muppet is being a twonk in front of them, has got up their noses already and is bimbling slowly quite deliberately in front of them, it shouldn't really come as a surprise to not be handled gently.

The assualt was not fatal either was it? He got a stick around his legs, per the usual sop and a shove. He wasn't beaten to death ffs .

So when the pubs are emptying all across the UK you are in favour of the Police beating them with sticks and pushing them to the floor?

Police without ID numbers, answerable to no-one hiding behind balaclavas?

Are they the new Gestapo? Sounds like it to me.

It's a shame that they generally *don't* do that.

Anyhow Joe, that hardly constituted a "beating" now, did it.

It's not a balaclava, it's a flash hood.

Rubbish...you know why they wear them as much as we do

Doesn't quite ring true, but...

G20 cop who hit Ian Tomlinson 'has a heart attack'

THE policeman filmed hitting a newspaper seller just before he died at the G20 protests has had a suspected heart attack.

The officer, who has not been named, claims he did not realise he was the man who pushed Ian Tomlinson to the ground until he saw footage on Wednesday’s TV news. Badly shaken, he telephoned Scotland Yard chiefs to say he was the officer involved, then collapsed at his home.

The PC was taken to hospital in Sussex, where he was kept in overnight with a suspected heart attack but was released the next day.

I guess he was too ill to realise that he is a cowardly thug that attacked a man from behind who had his hands in his pockets? Didn't look very ill to me. He wielded his batten and chargerd into the guy like he was a prop forward. Lock the thug up. Manslaughter. Sack him. Book 'im Dano.

poor thug had a heart attack?

maybe it was the shock of realising he might not get away with it.

Dont talk *******s

So the fact that someones drunk (which he probably wasnt given that he had only just finished work, warrents a reaction like that does it?

Work? He helped out some bloke on a newspaper stall, lived in a hostel, had a drink problem. Was upsetting the OB some 80 minutes earlier too.

Seems quite restrained to me, seeing as he's obviously been arsing around beforehand.

a sensible newspaper said:
...Recent events, however, point to broader problems with police accountability. When the Group of 20 nations met in London earlier this month, peaceful demonstrators were treated like cattle. Ian Tomlinson, a man on his way home from work, died from a heart attack after a policeman in riot gear thuggishly charged him to the ground.

The crowd control methods used by the police are worthy of investigation. Only Mr Tomlinson’s fate, however, seems likely to be scrutinised. Had Mr Tomlinson survived the demonstration and had the attack not been filmed, no action would have been taken...
